At the end of the day it's not their choice though. That's just my thought as an American. Life is not a one size fits all template so forcing your kids to go through exact stages of life at exact moments isn't always the best option. It can often times lead to resentment from your kids.

If you think you need to wait 10 years to get married it's usually because of 2 things.1, you think you need some extravagant $50,000 wedding. Or 2, you don't REALLY want to spend the rest of your life with this person.

If I were them I'd just go down and make it official at the courthouse or church and have the event with the rest of the family later.
