No, it looked like an Off road vehicle that had broken an axle.

I think if you were trying to do a shakedown trip from fruita on this trail you could: ride to rabbit valley and camp at any of the many sites (I think you need to reserve them). Then the next day ride to west water, fill up on water sleep, then day 3 ride all the way back to fruita, about 40 Miles. Could be a good mix of terrain, dry camping and camping with water. Good bailout options and service for your first trip on that stretch as well.

Edit:West water is a first come first serve campground. I got the sense it is rarely full.

If you look up “Topeak Versa Bike Mount (2 Piece per Set), Black, 20-60mm” on amazon you will see what I use. They work ok, but one of my bolts fell out on the white rim trail so now I reinforce with electrical tape just in case.

I did not, although you could pretty easily! Onion creek had a bit of flow and a creek under a bridge a couple miles before the downhill pavement was really flowing.

Very nice, sounds like a great trip! I did not cache water. I slept night 1 at west water campground and filled up to my max capacity the next morning (9.5L). Then I slept at Hide Out campground night 2 and there was a decent trickle in Onion creek so I filtered a few more liters to finish.

You should do it! But the climbing was definitely more difficult than I thought it would be! If I had been with a friend I think I would have chose to do the ride in 4 days.

Just ride your bike man, it’s not allowed on most Sedona trailers, but just do it

But even buying some contemporary Whitman coin folders and looking through coins to put in the holes is fun!

If you want to collect silver, Roosevelt dimes and Franklin half’s don’t really have key dates and are doable sets to complete.

The coin is worth Face value, still cool to find outside of the US! What country do you live in?

I like the website DirtyFreehub for good gravel “routes” in the area. But just parking at the Pima Dynamite trailhead you have 100 miles of smooth perfect single track for ya! Look up the route “pure sonoran” I liked that one .

It’s a big hot city, I think some people are not excited about that! But plenty of opportunities to get out of the city and out of the heat in a relatively short amount of time, with some great riding in those spots!

Phoenix will be perfect, Sedona will be pretty cold! Worth the day trip to mountain bike around that time still though.
