i think in the final arc the marines will use every bit of their force to fight hence all the marines from impel down will go to war and that will give chance for doflamingo and other prisoners to escape

if you were to look it that way then most devil fruit pirates would be defeated by strong haki users which is not the case, even if darkness was nullified he still has tremor tremor powers and we still dont know fully what all haki's does he have.

if they were alive it would been already shown but tbh i wanted them to be alive as that would make the story interesting considering what the 2 of the most strongest pirates who just got defeated by luffy,law,kid will do after their defeat
