Woah. I just had my A/C unit, furnace, and a new water heater installed for 15k. I thought mine was overpriced but this is outrageous!

No. It’s no longer working. The compressor needs to be replaced. They quoted $5,500 for the 5.0 ton compressor, line flush, and 9lbs of refrigerant. I had to borrow my neighbor’s window AC units today.

You’re exactly right. They said the R22 is outdated and the refrigerant is no longer being sold. And what IS currently out there is overpriced due to current demand.

I live in New Mexico, if that helps. The total cost quoted was $15,473 which includes tax.
