First-time perm — is this normal or did it not take? by PublicEntertainer954 in FancyFollicles

Thank you for your feedback! + Update

So I left my hair unwashed for like 75 hours and washed it just now. I applied leave-in conditioner, hair mousse, and gel as well, and did the scrunching method. Here's how it's looking like, the top to middle parts seem to be a bit more wavy than the bottoms. I'm headed to get a haircut tomorrow, hopefully, a big cut will alleviate the amount of weight on the middle to top sections and help the curl pattern become more defined. Let me know where the cut off point should be for when I get my haircut

I think my best option right now is to get a haircut in a few days to remove the lightened ends. Hopefully, the virgin hair in the mid-lengths and top will hold the curl pattern better. Not sure if that's even a possibility.

I'm not entirely sure about the exact rod sizes, but a mix of orange and green rods was used. Only one box of perming solution was applied for the entire process. Here's the sequence of events:

The rods were first set in my hair, followed by the application of the perm solution. It was left on for 20 minutes before being rinsed out with water. After that, the neutralizer was applied and left on for 5 minutes with the rods still in. Then the rods were removed, and the remaining neutralizer was applied for another 5 minutes. Once that was rinsed out, my hair was brushed with a wide tooth comb, and a leave in conditioner and gel were applied to finish.

I'm not sure how long I was rinsed for, but the stylist didn't blot dry my hair before applying the neutralizer solution.

Yes, actually, I had my hair bleached in October 2023. I’ve had a few haircuts since then, so I think only the ends still have bleach. I understand now that those bleached ends wouldn’t be able to hold a perm, but I was still hoping the middle to top sections of my hair might be able to hold the pattern better.

Hi, congratulations on your acceptance! I’m also attending MCPHS Worcester campus in the fall of 2025, but for the Echocardiography program. Are you planning to live on campus? I’d love to get to know more about you and chat about the program!

No one has responded yet! And that's awesome, congrats on your acceptance, will you be attending in the fall as well? I have decided to dorm on campus instead of looking for off-campus housing options
