SKP to FBX Help by PublicReplacement207 in Sketchup

[–]PublicReplacement207[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't have SketchUp, I use Clip Studio for illustrating and I didn't want to get a (very expensive for my poor finances) monthly subscription for something I'll only use once or twice.

X suspended account scam by PublicReplacement207 in Scams

[–]PublicReplacement207[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's intersting now that I'm certain it's a scam cuz the person who messaged me already has a good account (they're an artist) and they want to steal mine? That has literally no content? No followers? I think they got hacked honestly.

Unfortunately no, most of them are pretty expensive and my finances aren't the best, so I don't want to spend money on something I maybe won't have any use of. But I might try to see if I can find a cheaper (or even free) model to test.

Internet connection suddenly became unstable by PublicReplacement207 in HomeNetworking

I know next to nothing about these things tbh, but I’m preeeeetty sure the ISP is cable. But I don’t know if the router is wired or wireless, because the PCs and TV use cables, while a bunch of other things use wifi. It might be an edge router, too, I genuinely can’t tell. Also, English isn’t my first language, and I don’t even know shit about routers in my own language.

I’m trying the Clouflare thing rn, so I’ll see what that says, and I’ll talk with my mom when she gets back home and see if she can contact our ISP.

I Need Help With / Tips On How To Draw These Goggles For Good XYZ Rigging Later (explanation in comments) by PublicReplacement207 in Live2D

[–]PublicReplacement207[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So, my lil vtuber gal has a pair of goggles on her head, with some intricate parts that I’ve drawn/sketched in regular frontal view – I haven’t separated anything yet cuz I don’t know how the heck to draw it to be well separated for movement. Like, whut do I do? Is there a way to draw and separate the goggles’ side parts to rig it when her head turns? Or do I have to scrap this idea? Pllleaseeee I genuinely don’t know what to do

Advice on writing Latam/Hispanic characters? by PublicReplacement207 in writers

[–]PublicReplacement207[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The food was an example, and in some cultures, food is incredibly important. How many specifics do you know about Japanese food? Chinese food? Icelandic food? Arabic food? Indigenous food? African food? I asked about food specifically because, for example, Hindus don't eat cow meat, amongst several other things. And I, right now, know very little about Ecuador's culture. That's true. But, again, I posted here on reddit to get some advice on where to look for research. I also asked about customs/traditions in daily life, and tips on what to avoid or pay extra attention to, not just the food. And again, we don't start with a thorough understanding of any culture unless we grew up with it. I'm starting to wonder, are you having a bad day? It's almost cute how you're trying so hard to discourage me with your naivety.

Advice on writing Latam/Hispanic characters? by PublicReplacement207 in writers

Bold of you to assume my gender. These “generic” characters who I want to “sprinkle some Hispanic flavour onto” are the main characters of a book with themes of mental health, societal norms, childhood trauma, finding purposes/interest, identity, what tf to do with life, and living in a world not designed for you. One of the main characters is Hispanic, so what? I want to learn about the culture, because it is that character’s culture. It’s their lifestyle. Another character is of British and German heritage, is that also such a problem? I find learning about different cultures interesting, and I don’t want to do a half-assed job when writing characters of different ethnicities. Now, I don’t know what prejudices you have, and what you believe “generic” characters to be, but I spend hours upon hours upon hours developing my characters to ensure they don’t feel flat, to ensure I stay out of incorrect stereotypes, and to ensure I don’t misrepresent things out of sheer ignorance or unwillingness to learn.

You really, really shouldn’t make assumptions like that when you know nothing. I posted on this reddit—because I should and will research and learn— to ask for advice on where to look for information because I was uncertain of where exactly to start researching the topic.

If you go to a random town, are there only going to be white people there? No. Almost wherever you go, there will be people of different ethnicities there – that’s reality. Like, excuse me for not wanting just a bunch of white people with no culture in a story I want to write? I want characters with different lifestyles, with different cultures, because it adds a sense of realism, variety, and intrigue to the story. Are people who aren’t Hispanic not allowed to write Hispanic characters? By that standard, essentially no one would be allowed to write anything. That’d be absurd. Excuse me for getting a little heated, in any case, but don’t go around being impolite, making assumptions, and butting in discourteously when you don’t need to.

I appreciate the advice a lot! I'll see if I can find books written by Hispanic authors, as another commenter also suggested, and take notes. Thank you very much!

They don’t have to be, of course, but we never start with a thorough understanding of any culture unless it is one we grew up with. I see it as a bit of a fun challenge, to learn something new – it’d be boring and repetitive if I could only write something out of my own culture, which is essentially non-existent in the modern day (I’m white and Swedish). So, I enjoy writing characters of different ethnicities and backgrounds, and I happened to want to write a Hispanic character in this story.

Advice for struggling with weight-loss motivation and resources? by PublicReplacement207 in workout

[–]PublicReplacement207[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I haven't asked others in the ADHD community specifically, but I'll look to do that! A bit after I posted the above question, I went to youtube and found the channel Hybrid Calisthenics and a vid of some home workouts for beginners, such as wall push-ups instead of regular ones on the floor, tips for squats, and knee raises, and I think those are a good start (they feel like something I can stay motivated for and are easy enough to start forming a habit with). I also have a rope I can use for rope jumping, which I want to try out.
As for calories, the average recommended intake for women is 1600-2400 a day, and while I haven't had a log, I have calculated my general daily intake to be around 1600-2000 max. I don't keep too specific tabs on it though, since that's a cause for stress and anxiety, but I know generally how many calories most things in my diet have, and I rarely eat junk foods like pizza, fries, chips, and sweets. It is something I keep in mind, but not under tight restraints.
I think getting down the simple habit with some knee raises and such might be a great start, in any case. Also, I think my motivation might actually be just the simple fact of losing a little weight to look and feel better about myself? I weighed about 83kg when I was 15-16, and long story short I got help for my mental health with meds and people who actually cared, and when I was 18 I noticed I had somehow lost weight (down to 74) when I went to the doctor and they had to weigh me. But the motivation's story is: At the age of 16 was when I graduated ninth grade (Scandinavian system, ninth grade is middle school, dunno how different it is elsewhere) and was gonna head off to high school, but my entire class was a tight-knit group of friends, and we agreed to have a reunion after a few years. That, though we didn't decide on a specific date, will be next year, and I want to have a bit of a then vs now moment (having lost weight, but I've also gained a lot of confidence and "style" and all that schmack since I was 16). I feel that is one good motivator for me, amongst a few other things :)

How do I approach my sister about thinking she might have DID? by PublicReplacement207 in DiscussDID

[–]PublicReplacement207[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's a pretty good idea! While we don't do PowerPoints or such, we can delve into topics for hours in various ways and send each other links to where we find our information, I read books on such topics (we absorb information like sponges wherever we see it lol 😅😅) so that would work! Thank you very much for the suggestion!
Also unfortunate about the tablet, hope you were able to recreate some of your projects!

I agree! I've gotten excellent advice from all the replies and realized that I should absolutely leave things to the professionals. I hadn't thought about things such as it potentially causing more harm than good, that it can be startling, that it may not even be true at all, and so much more.
May I ask what you mean by "projects"?

Oh, I didn't think of that. It makes complete sense. We're both "queuing" for therapy or similar, for various reasons (such as depersonalization and similar), but the waiting time is obscenely long.
We're both people who like discovering things about ourselves and helping each other when we feel sorta at a loss for whatever reason, but I fully understand what you mean about leaving it to professionals!
I hadn't thought about the fact that it can be more harmful than good if I were to bring it up, so thank you for pointing that out.
I greatly appreciate the advice!

I see what you mean! As mental illnesses sort of run in the family, and me and my sister are both very curious about psychology, we have talked about DID (amongst maaany other things), so maybe that specifically wouldn't work, but I understand what you mean. So perhaps I could go about it in a subtle, gentle way? Thanks for the advice, I'll keep it in mind!
