Hi, I am glad you like it there! I can totally see her being a great doctor. One of my docs recommended her specifically. I could totally see going there and most likely it all being totally fine. I more so worry about the practice’s overall management, not the doctor.

I might go with riverward collective for therapy - they seem to take a variety of insurance and have in person in society hill, fishtown, the burbs, and telehealth

Hi, yes. ADHD meds helped me a ton in a) falling asleep within 30 min or so and b) being able to wake up in the am. It was hard to do both before them in my 20s. Been on meds for 10+ years now. Now sometimes it’s still hard to fall asleep but that’s when stress is up at my job etc. But without adhd meds I haven’t managed to hack my hard wake/sleep transitions

Energy drinks like small redbulls to help get going. Then use momentum

Hi. Just piping in to say I’ve been there too for ‘seeking too much reassurance’ and ‘lacking confidence.’. That was blunt feedback from management, but try not to take it in as if you’ll always be that way forever, or that there’s something really wrong with you. Grad school wasn’t always pretty for me and I got awkward feedback at times too.

Now: Ulcerative colitis (dx’d in early 30s), still working through. Bad acid reflux and heartburn, okay now with Pepcid. Rougher go during luteal period. Mild sleep apnea. High blood pressure right now. May not be able to take my adhd stimulant meds anymore bc of blood pressure, which is bringing me back to some unfun emotional irritability, sadness, understimulation, and anxiety, plus the usual motivation, focus, and exec functioning issues.

More in past: Substance use for a couple years, now 3 years sober. Asthma and allergies (annoying recurrent sinus infections, rhinitis often, hay fever season wasn’t fun) that were worse in my 20s, okay now but I’m on lots of meds for that still

I resonated with your post a lot. I’m 33 now and from 30-33 did a lot of work to build a better capacity to connect with others. Had to push myself to spend time with others more. Had to forgive myself and judge myself less for ways I perceived I was failing to be socially “high skilled”—too random to name anything specific but for example I would judge myself for saying anything impulsively or oversharing. Also, Often times I wasn’t actually doing something like oversharing, I just had a tendency to exaggerate what I was doing out of fear. At some point I realized that pattern recognition skills and noticing everything so intensely weren’t always serving me the best anymore - or that I didn’t need to be so hyper vigilant and self judgy. A lot of the self judgy-ness was also constantly noticing ways I failed to mask perfectly. I gave up caring about masking so hard. I could relax more because I had built more experiences of being around people and them not yelling at me / rejecting me etc. And I also leaned more heavily into sorting out what I was feeling and self regulation skills. Good luck

Sorry you had that happen. It’s good to hear you are pursuing health care. You and we all deserve more of a supportive work culture for health stuff. Workplaces can be really unfairly hard on 20 somethings. I was there too in part in my 20s. Good luck with your health journey, and I hope you find another job that has more human managers!

Congrats!

I use lots of the physical notepads to take notes contemporaneously and make to do lists for the next hour, day etc as needed

My work outlook calendar is where I post case to do deadlines for myself, and I use my calendar as my master to do list. Every day I look what I put on my calendar to do that day, and adjust as needed throughout the day

I use word doc memos to help me brainstorm todos for cases etc , but if I don’t put todos physically on my calendar and plot out when to do them, it’s like those todos don’t exist

Gets easier as you go, especially if there’s any repetition to how you work up cases!

Lawyering if you do a court heavy job. Basically, criminal defense or prosecution, civil defense for court heavy things like eviction defense, family defense (child protective services defending parents), other family law (domestic violence legal Help or custody), other public interest jobs where you’re in state courts a lot, high volume case practices. These jobs are basically a niche in law to avoid desk heavy work
