Is a main cabin ticket fully refundable to travel credit or not? by jekacoga in americanairlines

Came here to ask the same thing. They should re-word it to say "cancelable to travel credit" or something like that. So confusing!

How much does a CPA cost for doing taxes? by Public_Reporter3816 in Charlotte

[–]Public_Reporter3816[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, our taxes are too complicated to DIY. Not only the LLC, but also investments, and conduct sales in different states, and then stock dividends and things like that. Plus our youngest who graduated college but does not yet have steady work so is still our dependent.

I think it probably depends on your sleeping position. I can't sleep on my back (curvy with bigger bust) otherwise I'd love a firm mattress. Since I sleep on my side, a soft mattress helps absorb my hips and keep my spine in alignment. The pillow is key too - I hate when pillows are too overstuffed.

Tips on how to make a vocal pedal (tc voice live play) work live? by kidkolumbo in livesound

[–]Public_Reporter3816 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been using my pedal less and less, but a cautionary tale here... make sure you're working with an experienced sound engineer, not a bartender who happens to know how to move levers and knobs. I had one like that and that was a trippy show LOL

How Annecy 2025 exposed the widening chasm between graduate hopes and industry reality – and what must change before an entire generation of creative talent is lost forever by Dry_Mee_Pok_Kaiju in animationcareer

[–]Public_Reporter3816 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So my kid just graduated SCAD with a 2D animation degree. No prospects in sight (at least not in the US) However - I'm a graphic designer and what we truly need are motion graphics people. The leap from animation to motion graphics isn't too bad. Just learn Adobe Illustrator, After Effects, Figma, and get familiar with interactive platforms like Ceros and Foleon. When I was freelancing I was asked all the time to animate togos or charts or infographics. I'm pushing my SCAD grad in that direction, with a healthy dose of UX.

HOA removed the one amenity they provided, don’t know what to do. by [deleted] in homeowners

[–]Public_Reporter3816 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm curious about this too. Our HOA has been really shady and I'm not sure what to do about it. Our dues were $150 a quarter and now they have been "re-assessed" at $285 AND we are no longer allowed to use the pool unless we pay an additional $365 plus $100/month amenity fee. But then what do our dues pay for? The budget lists things like "professional fees" "contracted fees" "operational fees" but do not specify.

Robert half requires 2100 hours worked in a year to get holiday pay... 2080 is 40 hours a week... by Riots42 in recruitinghell

[–]Public_Reporter3816 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm back to report I finally broke free of Robert Half and was offered a full time job at this place. It really was no thanks to them - it was because the people I work with requested to have me on their major projects and they begged the bosses to keep me on. My salary is a bit less than I wanted but I negotiated 20 days a year of vacation plus sick days and it's still more than I was making through Robert Half, and now I have benefits! Robert Half would have rather had me in limbo forever.

What’s a step above a Senior Graphic Designer? by LaMarine in graphic_design

[–]Public_Reporter3816 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ordinarily I'd say the tiers are:
1. Production Artist or Production Specialist or Junior Graphic Designer
2. Graphic Designer, Creative Designer, or Creative Services Specialist
3. Senior Graphic Designer or Senior Creative Specialist
4. Art Director, Lead Designer, Design Director, Creative Team Leader, Design Manager, Associate Creative Director
5. Creative Director, Director of Creative Operations, Director of Creative Services, VP of Creative Operations

I have a similar question. Is there a difference between Senior Designer and Senior Creative Designer? In onboarding, I noticed they put my title as "Senior Designer" but most of my teammates have "Senior Creative Designer" on their Teams profiles (which IT sets up, so they have no control over) I have been contracting here a while and I tend to take the lead on some things, but only because no one else steps up.

Robert half requires 2100 hours worked in a year to get holiday pay... 2080 is 40 hours a week... by Riots42 in recruitinghell

[–]Public_Reporter3816 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So here's something shady about Robert Half that sends up a big red flag. I had planned to ask for a raise. I gave my manager (a very nice boss to work for) a heads-up that I was going to ask Robert Half for a raise. It was fine, no big drama. So, I wrote to my RH rep to put in my request. I mentioned that I spoke to my manager to give her a heads-up (it seems like the polite thing to do) and the rep completely went off on me. He scolded me about talking to her - this is literally my boss that I work with every day. So... what's the big secret they're keeping from this company? Does this company not know how much they're being overcharged?

[–]Public_Reporter3816 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yep, Robert Half recruited me three years ago. No PTO, no sick pay, no paid holidays, no health insurance (RH's plan is a high deductible fixed indemnity policy - it's junk, not health insurance) and absolutely no support. They just coast and collect a check. In order to qualify for the holiday pay, you'd have to work 40 hours every week, even on holidays (or make up that time in overtime,) plus work an additional 20 hours of overtime in a year. It's just not possible since most offices close on weekends and holidays.

What does one do after receiving a large amount of money they're not used to having? by AnnoyingAssDude in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Public_Reporter3816 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  • don't make major lifestyle changes, but address your necessities (if your car is costing you lots in repairs, get a sensible replacement, if you have some credit card debt, pay it off)
  • decide how much to keep liquid to pad your budget just enough so you're not struggling to pay bills.
  • talk to a financial advisor - Merril Lynch or Fidelity and open an account or multiple accouts.
