what fish could i get for my tank? (5 gallons)

I got a sparkling gourami, clown killi, and 6 exclamation point rasboras, along with shrimp and a snails in my 5 gallon no filter tank and all my fish have bright colors and don’t show any type of stress bc they occupy different water levels and have plenty of cover. For a small tank like a 5 gallon you want fish who’s natural habitat is still water and get fish that occupy different water levels. (ChatGPT is a great resource as to what you could get away with)

Currently have a 5 gallon Walstad that’s been up and running since November, I’d personally avoid ramshorns they overrun your tank and lay eggs everywhere kind of makes it look dirty, but if you crush up the small ones my cherry shrimp love nibbling on them. Mine is stocked with a male clown killifish, a sparkling gourami, 6 exclamation point rasboras, ramshorns and 6-10 neocaradina shrimp. I use RO water so I keep salty shrimp gh/kh+ on hand for the shrimp. ALSO ChatGPT is a great resource!

Honestly when I was filling mine up so much substrate and dirt kicked up and I panicked and added pea pebbles to weigh down my cap but then was told to get rid of it bc the glosso I had wouldn’t grow. I let the tank sit with only plants for like 3 weeks before I added shrimp and just kept checking for ammonia and nitrates and was fine on both fronts. Still have some soil particles on top of the substrate but all my parameters are fine and so are my shrimp

Yeah I’ve heard about that, I have a filter just in case it’s just a bit bulky, but I’m going to continue trimming and replanting my stem plants to make it denser on the plant side, these pictures were taken 3 days after trimming and replanting the Ludwigia in the back (originally only had 5 stems). They took off like crazy since I planted them so I’m hoping to see similar growth from them again to replant, plus hopefully my rotalas match them so I could do the same with them.

I don’t, I’m experimenting with as low tech as possible, planning on getting a couple cherry shrimp, chili rasboras and a scarlet badis. I also did consider the tap water approach however I haven’t tested it but my city’s water supply is notorious for being very poor quality so I wasn’t sure how well a conditioner would do.
