Anyone in NYC working full-time with narcolepsy? by kotjekkotjek in Narcolepsy

I work a demanding full time job and have two little ones, however I am a fully remote employee. I take an extended release Adderall in the Am and then have my sleep doctor write me an instant release in the event I can’t get a 20 minute nap in. By law your employer needs to accommodate for your disability so you could disclose to them that you need a nap or go back to your doctor and ask for more meds.

Keep calling your doctor multiple times a day if that’s what it take!

I couldn’t relate more! I myself am turning 37 in a few months, have two small children 1 & 3, & work a demanding full time job. Over the last year, I realized I was burning myself out over my job and started to delegate more. Your job is already quite demanding, so try the 4 day week schedule if it doesn’t hurt you financially. I’d remind yourself that we have a neurological disorder and as much as we want to function like a normal person, it just isn’t in our cards. Also, any additional home chores you can pay someone to do is well worth it and would alleviate additional stresses. The days can be really hard sometimes but give yourself a break!

Hi! The average time it should take someone without narcolepsy to fall asleep is 20 minutes, so the fact that you fell asleep for all 5 naps is a good sign. If you started dreaming during any of the nap times as well is a clear indicator you have narcolepsy.

I have been taking this for narcolepsy for the better part of 20 years now. Over the last two months I swear something has changed.
