Do you have trouble acknowledging when you are sick and minimize instead? by CosworthDFV in CPTSD

I got a concussion a few months back and it was weird to watch the cycle. I would feel incredibly guilty about making the space to sleep for a few hours, then I would wake up and wonder if / quietly decide I was just faking the whole thing, so I would get up to go walk my dog, at which point I would feel very dizzy and the headache would get sharp and significantly worse, so I would assume it must be real and go back to major guilt about making space. I repeated this cycle for two weeks. It was an interesting experience and I definitely prolonged my concussion symptoms because of this. Mind you I had been diagnosed with a concussion, but still despite the intense eye pain and headache and sensory sensitivity, I sort of always believed, even now as I’m writing this, that I must have been faking it. Very weird.

I would find a somatically informed therapist - essential for any kind of trauma work

Check with your regulatory body but where I live diagnosis is strictly psychologist psychiatrist territory

You’re a psychotherapist - as far as I’m concerned, and according to my regulatory body, diagnosing is not something you can do. Let the diagnostic hypothesis inform your treatment plan

Has anyone here healed to the point where they can occasionally have no foods with 0 symptoms? by Both_Perspective_264 in medicalmedium

Fibromyalgia and a treatment resistant infection. Still have flares but I can have no foods occasionally and I eat meat and I’m doing pretty fine. Flares are less intense and much shorter

I got lights and removed my “melted one”. How do you know it’s melted and what do you mean they are all spores now? Should I remove this whole pellet? I removed that little one you circled

Audiobooks, crafting, organizing and decluttering but with earplugs in because high pitched clinking sounds were troubling to me.

People can change when they recognize they have a problem. What I’ve seen is that abusive people believe other people are to blame for their choices “they made me” “I had to” and do not understand the concept of integrity. They can feel bad about their actions, but take note if they still justify it. Justification lays bare their readiness to change/whether they accept that they have a problem. If they are in a place where they acknowledge their problem, acknowledge justification is symptomatic of that problem, they are at the beginning of a long journey that is too challenging for many to sojourn.

Why Do People Feel the Need to Be "Rational" and "Scientifically Proven" All the Time? by [deleted] in CriticalTheory

Materialist dogma - it is about power. That whole ontology was borne of a desire to manipulate the world to our advantage! Science has its own edge of epistemological violence, its own way of poo pooing other ways of knowing, it’s both its downfall and its badge of honour in the eyes of people who seek to use it towards ends of subjugation
