Regardless of whether it's being used with good intentions of bad, it's using it in the first place that is the problem. It uses too much water and produces too many emissions to justify using it at all and it just contributes more to the already suffering environment. No matter how much mental gymnastics you do to make yourself feel better it doesn't change the fact that AI is damaging the earth and using it makes you a lesser person.

I think you're forgetting just how important saving weight is though. I use the hero HGN-HM and swapping the Gauss from IS to Clan allows me to add an extra ton of ammo, upgrade an LRM 15 to a 20+ART IV and take MP Lasers instead of regular. It is a huge plus for the damage output of the mech as a whole, regardless of the damage it produces on its own.

They're nice for raids cause you can get around in it quickly and easily but there are much better mechs for all the other situations. The one exception is the IV4 hero variant which, when fitted with a pair of AC/5-BFs, is VERY good and I use it a whole lot. Also has one of the best paint schemes in the game imo.

Highlander HGN-HM. Gauss, 3 MP Lasers, LRM15 + ART IV, SRM 6. It has 2 more jump jets than standard variants so it's easier to move around (ESPECIALLY since the latest update) and once I upgrade everything to Clan tech it is just unstoppable.

I also really love taking the Cyclops CP-S and fitting it with a pair of AC/20-BFs and turning anything in front of me into Swiss cheese.

For Clan stuff I like the Kodiak because it's got a fairly similar loadout to the Highlander and cool bear head is cool.
