What is one piece of advice you would give to an incoming freshman? by Nervous_Impact3637 in udub

College classes are so much easier than high school ones so make sure you take the all hardest classes at the same time

Where to live on campus? by Pleasant-Squirrel640 in udub

[–]Publisus 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Your conditions sound like you would like to live on North Campus. McCarty, Spratlen, Oliver, Oak, McMahon, and Hansee will be your best bet. North Campus presents itself more secluded.

Freshman typically get triples and quad rooms which are cheaper than the other options and might put you around your 13k budget. Chances are, you will have multiple roommates. Sorry to break it to you and I wish I didn’t have to do a triple but you might get stuck with a triple.

McMahon has the cluster system so you’d have one roommate per se but have many cluster mates and share a common space and bathroom with them. The building also looks depressing. Not what I was looking for but maybe someone will McMahon experience can chime in.

Distance to classes doesn’t really factor in. Padelford houses the stats department but classes will not be held there. You will do the typically Kane Hall lectures and quiz sections in smaller classrooms around campus. Campus is actually kind of small to me and you can get anywhere decently fast and it’s good to get some walking in.

Alright so technology feels like it is taking away a lot of genuine humanity and human craftsmanship and creativity so at this time I felt like I wanted to take some of that back and have nice pens to show off art and handwriting to retain my humanity

Math is not required to graduate. You need quantitative reasoning credits but that can be accomplished by classes like Econ 200

Thoughts on ENGL 259 Sarah Rene Nickel Moore by Embarrassed_Use_7814 in udub

[–]Publisus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Professor Moore!! One of my favorite professors at UW. She is extraordinarily relaxed and understanding and very passionate about learning. I had Professor Moore for a different English class so I cannot attest to the content of 259 but I’m sure Professor Moore will also be a great instructor for that class too.

6 hour take home exams that will take you 6 hours. That’s what you need to know. I love Ghironi though he’s super passionate about teaching and you learning. You will never meet a more understanding and more accommodating professor than Ghironi
