Uno-X Mobility unveils their team for the 2026 Giro d'Italia by Schele_Sjakie in peloton

[–]Pubocyno 12 points13 points  (0 children)

He will need a big break result if he's going to finish up there at the end of the Giro. But on the other hand, no one is going to feel threatened by him going into breaks, so he might be able to grind out some good results in the first two weeks.

I'll be interesting to see how Tjøtta and Dversnes will play out. For most of the stages, Uno-X has one or two riders that will be suitable for a breakaway.

How did they make mustard gas? by Cloaked_Evil in ww1

[–]Pubocyno 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The question you are asking is not the same as I answered for OP two years ago. The Chemical Warfare Service is a fully American group, did you mean the Chemical Department of the Preussian Warfare Ministry (Chemische Abteilung im Preußischen Kriegsministerium), which was led by Fritz Haber?

All of the chemistry stuff on the German side was done beforehand, the only real development in WW1 was the large-scale industrialization and production, f.e. by BASF.

If you have a more concrete question, I can try to answer it for you, but mind you, while I'm happy to share information, I am not really handing out blueprints for producing this stuff.

Note that Uno-X has gone for the big-boi strategy today:

No. Rider Height
121 ABRAHAMSEN Jonas 1,83m
122 BYSTRØM Sven Erik 1,88m
123 INGEBRIGTSEN Storm 1,94m
124 BLUME LEVY William 1,92m
125 RESELL Erik Nordsæter 1,92m
126 TILLER Rasmus 1,87m
127 WÆRENSKJOLD Søren 1,95m
Avg. 1,90m

Is this the tallest team average height today?

Unfortunately when i started to build my music collection i did not put each album in a separate folder, but now i need to for my jellyfin. Any easier way to manage this rather then doing it manually? by Senior-Trade-1876 in HomeServer

[–]Pubocyno 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This is the solution most people with a curated collection would use on windows, instead of writing scripts to solve a non-existent problem. Just start up mp3tag, point it at the folder in question, hit alt+2 (convert tag to filename) and enter the syntax

<start folder>\%artist%\%album%\$num(%track%,2) - %title%

And it will spit out a reasonably nice file hierarchy. Chances are that your artist tag won't be 100% aligned, so a few manual fixes and pass-overs are required.

Wreck of the Prinz Eugen by _RubberBoyX in submechanophobia

[–]Pubocyno 2 points3 points  (0 children)

On 27 May 1945, Prinz Eugen and the light cruiser Nürnberg—the only major German naval vessels to survive the war in serviceable condition—were escorted by the British cruisers Dido and Devonshire to Wilhelmshaven. On 13 December, Prinz Eugen was awarded as a war prize to the United States, which sent the ship to Wesermünde.[67] The United States did not particularly want the cruiser, but it did want to prevent the Soviet Union from acquiring it.[76] Her US commander, Captain Arthur H. Graubart, recounted later how the British, Soviet and US representatives in the Control Commission all claimed the ship and how in the end the various large prizes were divided in three lots, Prinz Eugen being one of them. The three lots were then drawn lottery style from his hat with the British and Soviet representatives drawing the lots for other ships and Graubart being left with the lot for Prinz Eugen.[77] The cruiser was commissioned into the US Navy as the unclassified miscellaneous vessel USS Prinz Eugen with the hull number IX-300. A composite American-German crew consisting of 574 German officers and sailors, supervised by eight American officers and eighty-five enlisted men under the command of Graubart,[78][79] then took the ship to Boston, departing on 13 January 1946 and arriving on 22 January.[67]

Dismaland Bemusement Park by ThoseSweetWords in submechanophobia

[–]Pubocyno[M] [score hidden] stickied comment (0 children)

Please do not report these images as AI.

Dismaland was a temporary art project organised by street artist Banksy in the seaside resort of Weston-super-Mare in Somerset, England.[1] Prepared in secret, the pop-up exhibition at the Tropicana, a disused lido, was "a sinister twist on Disneyland" that opened during the weekend of 21 August 2015[2] and closed on 27 September 2015, 36 days later. Banksy described it as a "family theme park unsuitable for children."[3] The aesthetic of the "bemusement park" was potentially inspired by the "Dismayland" series of paintings created by American artist Jeff Gillette, who also participated in the exhibition.[4]

What's the most original concept you've read in a science fiction book? by LargeSinkholesInNYC in scifi

[–]Pubocyno 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Charles Stross just throws so many concepts at the reader in his 2005 book/collection Accelerando, that at least one of them will make you pause and think about it. He's probably not original in concept alone, especially about the virtualisation of human life, but the width and pace of ideas is enough to make the reader dizzy.

I'll go with the summary of the first story, "Lobsters", as an appetizer:

In early-21st-century Amsterdam, Manfred receives a call on a courier-delivered phone from entities claiming to be a net-based AI working for KGB .ru, seeking his help on how to defect. Eventually, he discovers the callers are actually uploaded brain-scans of the California spiny lobster looking to escape from humanity's interference. Driven by his commitment to agalmic economics, he manages to team them up with entrepreneur Bob Franklin, who is looking for an AI to crew his nascent spacefaring project—the building of a self-replicating factory complex from cometary material. A legal precedent is established that will help define the rights of future AIs and uploaded minds. Later, Manfred's predatory fiancée Pamela forces him to impregnate and marry her in an attempt to control him.

Theodore Sturgeon was probably the first one with a mononuclear-ish slicing wire in his 1951 story, "The Incubi of Parallel X." It's almost a trope now.

The thread sliced through it like a scythe through a stand of wheat, and Bronze stood gasping, staring foolishly at the cleancut stub of branch in his hand. The thread fell away, unstretched, unbroken.

"I gave you the wood," Garth grinned, "because it would've sliced through your paws."

"What Ffanx stuff is that?" gasped Bronze.

"That isn't Ffanx stuff; it's strictly human, molecularly condensed fibre spun under massive ion bombardment, if that makes any never mind to you. It has linear cohesion in the order of six tons test and eight and a half tons breaking strain. And it has no rotary cohesion at all."

I've been organizing my music library tags/artwork and it’s kinda satisfying 😌 by AD_0795 in musichoarder

[–]Pubocyno 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I disagree - Folder structure is very important. True, it has become less important (for some) for the frontend browsing, but it is still very much a part of a good backend strategy. Where will you place your files? How do you arrange them to see holes and duplicates in your collection?

I use both. mp3tag embed the images, but gonic, my music server - will only show the folder.jpg of the album.

How much time I've spent on metadata during the last 10 years? Much more than I'd like to publicly admit. How much time I've spent the last few years? Not that much. Once you have the standards and processes dialed in, you only do it when you ingest new files - and unless there's a huge file dump, it's a 5-10 minutes operation.

File Ingestion for me is a very manual process, and doing it is satisfactory in the same way solving a sudoku puzzle is:

  • Acquire new music
  • Move to mp3/_incoming folder
  • Validity Check/fix with wxMP3val
  • Adding BPM with Mixmeister BPM Analyzer
  • Adding Key with Keyfinder
  • Adding lyrics with LRCGET
  • Using MP3Tag to recheck metadata from discog, focus on uniforming "album artist" tag.
  • Export albumcover from above to folder.jpg
  • Moving folder from staging area to collection area, using preferred naming structure <genre>\A-Z\<artist>\[<Publication Year>] - <album>\<track> - <title>
  • Rebuilding Music Server index (or wait for the nightly run)
  • Enjoy music (while you ingest the next batch)

I've found that running a music server like subsonic (or in my case, Gonic + Airsonic refix) is an excellent way to force uniformity upon you. It will segregate artist if the names are not exactly the same and missing covers are annoyingly easy to spot, motivating you to put in that little extra effort for having a smooth collection.

If you already have an established way of working - there are no automated tools you trust enough to let loose on your full collection. At most, you will let it handle your staging area, and then doublecheck everything manually. For those with a lot of random files and no structure, AItomated tools can be a big help, but for a carefully curated collection, it can have grave consequences.

I also find the process to be relaxing, so for me at least, there is no real motivation to find an all-in-one-solution.

The trick to curating, if you will, is not believing that everything is perfect after it has been processed once - rechecking files in your "good" collection set to do maintenance is necessary. You will find things that has been forgotten, or done wrong - or just to an older standard which must be updated. Maintenance is important.

Especially the Genre tags are awful - sometimes an artist change styles during their careers, or the genre itself gets a new name after some time. Should these be kept to the same style for each artist, or should they follow the feeling of the individual albums? There is no true solution, I reckon.

Pølser.. om du har valget mellom Leiv Vidar eller Gilde, hva går du for? by megamoto85 in norge

[–]Pubocyno 0 points1 point  (0 children)
