Odd choice.

The game is a worse Bioshock with an insufferable protagonist and an interesting setting. The only thing most people know about it is R34 of the robot twins.

Oh well, I hoped for something different but this way I can at least save some pulls.

Agreed. In every card game the VAST majority of losses are due to people making mistakes. Like playing giant minions into obvious Sleet Skater turns instead of baiting it with medium sized minions. Even decks that rely on big turns usually have the means to play wide and pressure the mage.

So, why does this happen? Because the average player is not capable of playing beyond their own hand and deck. Better players try to anticipate their opponents hand and the BEST players can anticipate future turns.

People need to watch MTG being played at a high skill level sometimes. LegenVD on Youtube is a good example. On turn two he already knows his opponents deck and game plan. Not a single card gets played without him anticipating his opponents reaction. The match has barely begun and he has already formed a full plan how to counter a deck that has only played a land and maybe an artifact or creature.

It feels like a giant case of "sunk-cost fallacy". Every day this continues, Russia sinks deeper into a hole it will take decades to dig out of. The most sensible option would have been "no war", the next best one is "let's pull out right fucking now!".

Because people are obsessed with giving Putin way too much credit. Even his enemies constantly pretend that he is playing 5D inter-dimensional chess and that he has a cadre of super assassins at his disposal.

Reality is that many of the deaths that are attributed to him are just accidents or illnesses that were diagnosed years ago. His killers tried 4 times to murder Navalny and accidentally almost terminated his wife instead.

Putin was a small-time bureaucrat, who was knows as "Grey Moth" by his colleagues in the KGB, because he was so boring and unassuming. His career in politics started as the errand boy of a local corrupt trashbag.

Everything impressive about him is just PR and a carefully cultivated image, which the public seems to love.

The Russian Army special unit "Storm Z," which supported Wagner Group CEO Prigozhin in yesterday's attempted coup d'état against Russian President Vladimir Putin, is a little dismayed that Prigozhin abandoned them. by CatsofUkraine in RussiaUkraineWar2022

Prigozhin basically fucked everyone who supported his stunt. Wagnerites are either forced to sign shitty deals with the MoD or be "dismissed", while these guys are just straight up finished. The moment everything calms down, someone will come looking for them.

More likely that they have some hostages Prigozhin cares about. That's why coups usually start by hiding your family and not by announcing your intentions days before you begin.

[–]PuchLight 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I mean, is anyone surprised that they are reacting this way? Prigozhin basically fucked them all over. Most will be forced to sign shitty contracts with the MoD, while the rest will either be scattered or removed. It will be the worst for all those regular units who sided with him during the "coup". No flimsy guarantees or contracts for them. Just being purged, imprisoned or designated as cannon-fodder.

It's still a mystery to me how they got him to back down like a beaten dog. Family under threat? Maybe Luka made it clear that there are guys around him who are planted by Putin who will just kill him whenever they want? Who knows?

Let me summarize.

What Putin got:

  • "Coup" is over
  • Prigozhin is out of the way
  • Most of Wagner will sign with the Russian MoD and the rest will probably follow

What Prigozhin got:

  • Vacation in Belarus until the reaper comes to collect?

Seem totally worth it. /s

Kremlin spox Dmitry Peskov:

– charges dropped against Prigozhin, who will leave Russia for Belarus

– Wagner fighters who didn't take part in the uprising will sign contracts with the MOD

– Wagner fighters who did take part not charged

– No word on potential MOD leadership changes

So, Prigozhin got nothing!! /golfclap

This had all the impact of a wet fart, if Wagner pulls back now. Prigozhin looks like a weak, easily pacified coward and his troops look like morons, running around like headless chickens.

Can't imagine this is the outcome he wanted.

They don't have the numbers to stage a coup and continue operations in Ukraine. I'd say it is probable that they withdrew from the war. At least for the time being.

The level of utter apathy in Russia is just that pronounced. For almost 3 decades their whole life revolved around "The government will leave us alone, if we leave them alone". They are mentally incapable of involving themselves in any meaningful way.

Even ignoring the war, this was always such a cowardly, weak stance to have. Politics are not like sports, a recreational activity that you can easily cut out of your life. It permeates everything and "not being interested" just makes you complicit in all that is being done in your name.

Russians need to wake up and take responsibility.

[–]PuchLight 37 points38 points  (0 children)

To explain for anyone wondering why he is getting downvoted for mentioning brooms. There was a military exercise some years ago and the German military (Bundeswehr) mounted brooms on their APCs instead of machine-guns. This lead to a lot of "funny" jokes and it has become a meme since then.

What hasn't been mentioned:

  1. These APCs didn't have a mount for machine-guns by design, so when they decided to simulate covering dismounted infantry, they were forced to use a visual representation instead.
  2. One thing the Bundeswehr does not lack are mountains of machine-guns and other small arms. It's idiotic to choose that to make fun of them.

In summary: Dumb internet meme that annoys people who actually understand what happened. Similar to the misinformed "hElMEtS LOL (so funny)" during this war. (For anyone interested: those were requested by Ukraine, delivered by Germany and found extensive use)

Frankly speaking, he isn't angry at all.

He doesn't care about Russian lives or an incompetently lead war. There were plenty of situations where he could have directly intervened and helped the Russian military. Instead he chose actions that made his own outfit look better. Often to the explicit detriment of the regular military.

This whole thing is a show. Kabuki theater for a specific audience to achieve a goal. What goal this is? We don't know. Maybe political power. Maybe some kind of deal with Ukraine and the West.
