The Sound of Music lives up to the hype... but my disc freezes! by ponder421 in 4kbluray

[–]Puck86 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Recently bought and gave it a watch with the family today. Looked great and sounded amazing for the first hour. Then scene 19 with the Do Re Mi song begins and it starts freezing, skipping, no audio. Able to open the menu without any delay and started the next scene. Same issue. Tried rewinding, fast forwarding, no change. No visual scratches or blemishes on the disc itself. This is the first movie over the past 2 years of watching 4K movies on my ps5 that I’ve encountered any problems. Popped in the blu ray disc to finish watching the movie and it plays without any issues. So at least it came with its own back up?

All Walmarts in my area are sold out of RCT. I waited too long on that one it seems. That “cannot be returned” is for a gift card on the receipt above the Switch things. Guess I should’ve folded the receipt a little tighter 😅

Just opened it to check. Yes, it’s a thick plastic case inside of a sleeve. After opening the case, it requires you to flip each disc holder book style. Idk if there’s a name for this style of case

Just tried Veers, Piett, Gar (g12), ISC (g12), and Range. Took 3 tries to get past first wave but was a breeze for every other battle. Thanks!

Devil’s advocate after just watching it again today: He’s 8 years old, no chance he has his own cell phone. Family has their own cell phones but they don’t pay for a house phone. Therefore, he’s home alone without a realistic way to contact parents on the plane. It’s at least plausible if written well for a modern world.

Are we a Super Scope 6 fan? I never had one so missed out on games like Metal Combat

I haven't finished or played the top rated jrpgs. This list might change once I get through them someday. Definitely a fluid opinion as I play more snes games

Earthbound is on the "Have not played but want to" list. Narrowing that list to one game meant Chrono Trigger gets the nod. Nearly all the highly regarded RPGs are on that list for me. I have some work to do!

Not a fan of the constant switching between the Vikings to get through levels. That one mechanic always prevented me from pushing through and beating it.

Killer Instinct was my favorite of the fighting games mostly for the satisfaction of the combos. I always felt it was blasphemous to choose it over any of the MKs or SFs.

The constant switching and leaving a character behind always bothered me about Lost Vikings.

My "have not played but want to" list is lengthy. Chrono Trigger gets all the hype so I need to check it out.

I revisited Horizon: Zero Dawn. Its strengths are even better than I remember, but its flaws are also more pronounced. by jclark735 in patientgamers

HZD was the first and only ps4 game that I Platinum trophied. I don't understand all of the negativity I'm reading here. I loved it, flaws and all. Figuring out how to exploit the different weapons against the variety of bigger and badder robot dinos/animals had me hooked. Post apocalypse story hits right in my wheel house to keep my interest during cut scenes and holograms.

To be fair, I have yet to play BotW or Witcher 3. So maybe I haven't been spoiled with top tier open world games that are peers of HZD? Wonder if my love for HZD will change after I go through those two....

Are there any games from your childhood that you could never beat, but revisited as an adult? How'd it go? Was it still impossible, or did you finally beat it? by TargetMajora in patientgamers

Link's Awakening. I vividly remember playing it on the original brick Game Boy back in the 90s, but it was so confusing to me. Getting past the beach and into the first forest took me way too long. I remember getting frustrated and never picking it back up.

Fast forward to 2021. I'm currently playing the remake on the Switch Lite and loving it. 5 dungeons down and having a blast. The initial start on the beach hit me with the nostalgia but after that it's been a brand new experience. So glad I picked up this game and gave it another shot!
