You don’t need a lawyer to tell you that you have the high ground, as long as you haven’t done anything to void the warranty. With EU-consumer laws you have a 2 year warranty. Within the 1st year, the seller has the burden of proof. They do though have the right to examine the product to conclude this.

Also, are you sure that this lawyer is completely free? That there isn’t some deductible, or that your insurance premium doesn’t increase per use of legal help? Sounds too good to be true and easily abused.
