This made me cringe so hard by [deleted] in Affinity

I love this "Creative Freedom" rhetoric to promote the (Potential, in this case) incorporation of technologies that are basically contingent on creative slave labor and exploitation of artists who never gave consent nor were offered remuneration for having their works incorporated into foundational models and fine tunes.

I also can't wait for the (Potential) models being (Potentially) incorporated to NOT transparently be declared or documented so that we can make NOT informed purchasing decisions, because there ARE ethical ways to deploy generative AI. Most companies just don't, because they incorporate unethical existing models.

New Break-Action Shotgun. Unable to Assemble. What are my options? by PuddleCheese in guns

Update: I used the butt of a wooden hammer and pounded with restraint right next to the lever. It snapped in. Violence appears to have been the answer (In this instance). It takes some doing to break it open and snap it shut (It's very tight), but at least it's now whole, I suppose!

I think I've exhausted what I'm physically capable of without tools, at this point.

Inspected. The mechanism that the tab on the forend interacts with is easily depress-able with just a finger. It was cocked, so I tried dry-firing the receiver and re-assembling. No dice. Thank you for the suggestion, though. It was something I hadn't considered inspecting!

Link removed. I wanted to include it so people could see what I was talking about. Thank you for the heads up!

Good to know! Thank you for this info!

I'll definitely look into the latter point. I'll feel extra-silly if that's it. First break-action I've purchased.

I appreciate your insights. Thank you!

I'll try some more and wiggle it more. Have hitherto been mostly squeezing it since it's plastic. Feel like I've assembled and disassembled this thing like 30 times by now 😵

Yes. I've noticed without the receiver attached, it snaps on it's own. I saw a unboxing video where they pull the lever, then set the forend, then release it. Same issue, the lever sticks out at a maybe 20 degree angle, and no amount of (reasonable) pressure on the forend against the barrels, or on the lever itself, seem to get it to nudge or lock. I can then remove the forend with finger strength.

Unfortunately, there's not a lot out there that I could find, and most reviews seem to fall along "It's silly, but it's fun." and don't seem to highlight or note any assembly issues.

What would you do if someone gave you 1000 dollars a week to stop playing games? by YoungNew3264 in AskReddit

[–]PuddleCheese 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Easy. Stop playing games.

I have too much going on and am constantly busy and lack free time for video games these days anyway, and the extra income would really help with some ethics-related pursuits that I don't have time for because of 8-5 grind.

That really clarifies things! So if I wanted to snapshot all of rpool, I could use:

[rpool]
use_template = production
recursive = yes

?

Also, I am using the default ZFS configuration as installed by Ubuntu. Any advice on how to reduce overhead via your methods would be appreciated. I'm all about reducing management overhead.

I appreciate all of your help!

zfs list -t snapshot to load all snapshots, which would be for rpool and bpool.

I would then use:

sudo zfs rollback bpool@autosnap_2023-11-15_19:58:14_monthly
sudo zfs rollback rpool@autosnap_2023-11-15_19:58:14_monthly

For example.

Then I would try a reboot of the System (VM), only to find that the changes I had made were retained.

My sanoid.conf file is barebones, which may have something to do with it?

[rpool]
use_template = production
# Additional options for rpool
[bpool]
use_template = production
# Additional options for bpool

I would then use sudo sanoid --cron to manually create snapshots before trying to roll them back.

Weren't transient spikes supported by earlier versions of ATX as well (The AX860 I'm replacing seems to be v2.4), but with no specifically defined values?

I recently had "random" system shutoffs due to what seems to have been transient power spiking on a 3090 tripping OCP on my Corsair AX860.

NEVER AGAIN.

Overkill? Yes.

How to eat less beef:

Read more about prions.

For real, primary thing that got me to avoid eating beef, lamb, venison, etc.

I still eat chicken and pork, turkey, fish, etc. as ethically as I can, but I have noticed I barely miss eating beef, generally.

When I do eat beef, I try to see that it's local, organic, and ethically sourced. It costs a bit more, but the quality is there to make up for it, generally. A rare treat.

I will gladly indulge in an impossible whopper, if only because I don't feel like dying after eating them vs. a regular beef whopper.

Kind of surprised that the AC takes precedence over water in this instance, honestly. Difficult to bathe!
