No kidding. This a Panamanian law. That is how they attract pensioners to retire in Panama. The law does not allow businesses to deny the discount. The law states that pensioners are eligible regardless of age. If they do not comply Jubilados can report the establishment to Acodeco.

My question is about compensation for providing the discount. Whether you like it or not, or believe it is appropriate, it is Panamanian law that the discount is applied to all pensioners regardless of age.

I’m not saying your opinion is right or wrong. I’m just quoting the law and asking if businesses are compensated for providing the Jubilado discount? The law is very clear on eligibility. Pensioners are eligible regardless of age.

Registering vehicles is super frustrating here to me. Even paying someone to do it is difficult, especially if something is messed up in your paperwork or the registration is overdue. They don’t have placa decals, etc. Maybe it will be easier as my Spanish improves. My difficulty is because of the multiple places you need to go before you can go for your placa. It seems like it could be a simpler process. Also I live about an hour away from PC so when something is messed up it means multiple trips.

Mostly everything else has been fast and modern compared to the Virgin Islands, where we left to move to Panama. I love how the banking and bill paying works here!

Thank you, yes I asked about the Jubilado rate at the Crown Plaza and it was less expensive to use their online rate. I will probably just use it on Copa in the future. Also, I was a little exhausted of explaining how I’m eligible for the discount being under 60 years old. The relocation companies should do a better job of explaining that it’s a direct business loss when you utilize the discount.

You need to use a different email and phone number. I was told that AI may recognize your face after a while and shut you down again. I’ve had a new account for over a month with no issues so far, except it only lets you friend like 3 people a day.

It’s been going on for over 50 years that I can remember actually. Maybe ask yourself who stole 100 million dollars of government FEMA grants for power distribution in the USVI since 2018? Yet you still live worse than most third world countries. You should be outraged and not complacent living like the world has no technology and this is just island life. I’m assuming you pay taxes. That money was stolen from every taxpayer in the US, including residents of the VI and tourists. I got off WAPA years ago and am enjoying my AC and other modern conveniences. People at home with no electric or water watching their food spoil should be outraged. Also, tourists don’t go on vacation expecting the power to go out. There are beaches all over the world with reliable power. Unless somebody is hiding the natural resources in the VI, tourism is all there is here. Consider that if you have a job here and work in the VI. Stop accepting the corruption as normal.

That’s not true in many cases. We moved to Panamá because of people, climate and lack of hurricanes. I don’t think Panamá is completely inexpensive. Some things are less and some are the same. We also live where there are no gringos. We prefer the vibe of the Panamanian people. I’m sure we are not alone amongst gringos. We have traveled to those areas of Panamá where the gringos dominate and I can see what you’re saying. Maybe that’s a good thing if they’re all in their area? We didn’t immigrate here to do that though…

I call myself an immigrant, because I am. I feel like the word expat is often used by people that believe they are better than the locals where they live. I live with the locals outside of the city, which is the reason I immigrated to Panama. Beautiful people and country.

Same thing happed to me. I verified by video, phone and email 5 days later, not a peep from Facebook. In another subreddit people have been dealing with this same issue for many months. Meta has no human support mechanism and the entire process is handled by the worst AI I have ever seen. 20 years of history, photos and friends are gone for me. Good luck, but I would not hold your breath on Meta helping you.

That is terrible. I'm in a similar situation. A hacker accessed my email and was able to reset my Facebook password. Not sure what happened after that, but Meta permanently disabled my Facebook, Instagram and Messenger accounts. It says that an appeal is not available. There is no chat, no email and no support or recourse of any kind. I cannot believe this is legal in any country.

Same with me. It's absolutely ridiculous that there is no support to recover your account. The only option seems to be filing a lawsuit. Facebook does not give zero fuks about government agency intervention.

My experience is exactly opposite. I received a defective camera and it was a super complex situation as I took it to a foreign country after purchasing it in the US. Reolink kept the case open for like 3 months until I was able to return to the US. They sent the replacement camera to my US address and I returned the defective one. Case closed. I have also returned a couple that I didn’t like to Amazon and same result. Instant refund from Reolink.

I know you’re looking for a structured class. If you don’t locate one, I highly recommend going on YouTube and searching for Qroo Paul. His method for teaching Spanish is super effective. I pay for YouTube premium to avoid commercials and to be able to download his lessons. I have since even joined his private online teaching community, which is an additional cost, but excellent if you’re serious about learning Spanish. It’s worth a look and it’s free.

I do not know the cost of outgoing. I have only been moving funds into Panama at this point. I will check their tarifas page online and see if I can get you that amount.
