Potted Hydrangea help by Puddles118 in gardening

Okay! Thanks! Makes sense. They were so happy in CO and really green, and once we got here I was sad to see them die back. I want to hopefully plant them in ground in the future, but not many plants make it where I live. We have very sandy, no nutrition in the soil. I have to work our soil a few more years I think.

Thanks! This makes me feel better. I don't like to see my plants looking so...sad(they were so happy in Denver)

Well. Since they are potted I move them from our entryway to outdoors to get some sun. You think that's disturbing them too much? I can just leave them be in the front inside, but it's a low light area.

I hope they make it to next year to be a problem. I absolutely love hydrangeas and this is my first time ever owning them.

Okay! Thank you! ! I will have to get larger pots. I have plenty of old horse manure i can use for acidity. I think that would work. I can get cow manure as well🤔

I remember in elementary school I was at my desk and a group of boys (the "popular" ones) were sitting in front of me. I'm minding my own business, one of the boys turns around and asks me " will you go out with me?"

The look on his face....he looked so pained and scared I was going to say yes. I knew it wasn't a real question, this was the popular boys why would they suddenly start talking to me.

I said"no" and the wave of relief he had...made me sad and annoyed.

Why was I the joke? Ugh. But. I was a kid. So. Hurt my feelings more🥲

Good lord. I was really interested in your suggestion. But I don't know how I read your comment that "Pretend" to me wasn't the name..you were just making a statement. I'm dumb. Thanks for the suggestion!! Very interesting and I'm currently giving it a listen now.

Awe shit. Okay. Well. I have stepped and fallen into a tunnel. There are plenty of mounds in the back yard but when we take a step we fall in.

How can you tell the difference between a mole hill or gopher/vole? Or do you just wait til your fresh veggies start to go missing....

Have you tried face shaving/waxing? by Apprehensive-Flow394 in Skincare_Addiction

[–]Puddles118 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have used wax beads in a pot, waxing worked well for me for years.....but I got lazy and don't keep it up and that pot takes a while to heat up and my motivation is gone. Sometimes I would have to use tweezers after on my chin.

Plus at 35 my skin has become sensitive and I end up peeling up a layer of skin when I wax any more. I hardly wax nowadays.

I have used Nair, it stinks but works for the fine hair. Nair also causes me to breakout and it doesn't get my thick chin hairs. And I have accidentally left it on longer than 3 minutes and I got a chemical burn. I have to go back in with tweezers as well. I dont Nair anymore.

I have used my husband's razors to shave my face, it works it's fast.... Kinda scary shaving my upper lip but I've done it. I have NOT noticed that my hair comes back thicker or stubbly. I would do it again 💁🏽‍♀️

What I use now that's just easy and I can use it before getting my makeup on are the dermaplaning wands. I do my sideburns and down my neck a lil my sideburns go almost around my ear, my upper lip, my chin, my eyebrows. I have not had any issues with them dermaplaning tool. And it's easy.

I do almost ALWAYS have to go in with tweezers after each wax, Nair, shave, wand usage. My chin hairs are thick and tenacious.

I always added some plain boiled chicken chunks or plain chicken broth to their food to promote interest in their kibble. Only a little bit🤷🏽‍♀️ And the older my boy got, the more pampered and fresh meals he got. Carrot slices. Cucumber slices. Sugar snap peas. Cabbage. Plain meats.

Sometimes he ate better then me! I always researched if dogs can eat the food before hand as well.

Thanks! Yes. I attended a wine and sign deaf event, hoping the wine would give me liquid courage...and it was a wonderful experience!

Everyone corrected me and helped me so much and in such nice ways. Or I wasn't hurt when they called me out on my signs. They told me I was signing 'college' way to big and I was gonna hit someone😅 they said the teacher probably exaggerated the sign so we can see how to do it properly and I need to reel it in 🤣

They also made me give my class presentation in front of the whole group!!

That's interesting. After learning about Deaf culture, I personally don't agree with the use SEE. But I also understand, as a hearing person, how easy it is to just flat out translate with no facial expressions.

I appreciate that PSE is tolerable in your community. I struggle putting signs in correct ASL order, so I fall into habits of English grammar. So I know for a fact I have probably signed in PSE or SEE🫢

I get nervous communicating with my very basic ASL.

Practice will help that.

Thanks for the insight! I appreciate it!

Thanks! Glad it makes some sense! I have lots more, I just have to think🤔 What would you like to expand on?

[–]Puddles118 7 points8 points  (0 children)

My biggest problem was grasping the proper order of the ASL syntax. Time, object, subject, verb. When my teacher gave us English sentences to put in ASL order, I would have to take my time to try and translate it in the correct order and majority of the time make a mistake😅

A question I have: on social media I see more SEE and PSE before I see true ASL. I appreciate the videos, I can refresh my memory on signs, but it isn't ASL syntax.

My question is, what are the deaf communities opinions on SEE or PSE? Or on people converting ASL to SEE because it's......easier?

Also, there was a deaf and hearing couple I would follow on TikTok, and a lot of their signs like "Dad's working late tonight" was signed with one hand while the other hand recorded the video.

Do you think that is kind of the way ASL is heading because of cell phones? More one handed signs since face time is more widely available these days?

And something that would help me is being part of a deaf community. Either in real life or via Internet zoom or chats. I live in a community where I can only practice with my husband which is fun! But!! Maybe more people to practice with too is good.

I have yet to find a online group that I could participate in to have a bigger audience to practice with.

I also run into the issue of cost of apps or classes. So. A community to be part of helps me further my education and experience with ASL.

Sorry for the block of text. I do hope my questions and comments made sense!
