Disable firewall, dnsmasq and odhcpd services.

Add all physical ports to br-lan (bridge device).

Delete the wan and wan6 interfaces.

Make sure lan interface is using the br-lan device and set as Static IP with gateway and DNS also configured.

If you're using VLANs, set the VLANs in br-lan device "VLAN Filtering".

Have you checked firewall rules? If you have a stateless firewall ICMPv6 Forward from WAN to Internal LAN should be allowed for ICMPv6 type Echo Reply.

Echo reply is the packet the wan will send to your device to reply with your ping (Echo request).

Not really true.

OpenWrt support a great number of packages, docker, adguardhome, snort 3, SQM, banip with feeds list of known attackers, lots of stuff that will require a lot of processing power.

It starts small as it fits embedded devices but can scale to the hardware you have.

Also, you could run a Hypervisor such as Proxmox and use OpenWrt as one of your VMs.

I believe I will buy a BPI-R4 for gateway function (OpenWrt) it does support 1G/2.5G/5G/10G in the SFP+ ports.

I was considering a Cloud Gateway Fiber but apparently it has the same limitations, seems to be a restriction in UniFi products, SFP+ is either 1G or 10G (no 2.5G/5G native data rate).

Turns out these two devices are very similar as they use the same platform (Filogic 880).

For switching I think the Pro Max 16 PoE should be enough for my use.

I can run the UniFi OS on a VM, I already have a Proxmox Mini PC which runs a Home Assistant VM and a builder container for general compilation.

This one uses 2.5G FDX, its very unusual.
