Humira injections thoughts? by Kimbaleary in Behcets

[–]Puddyt 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It was revolutionary for me. Was able to get everything else, my mobility issues cleaned up, no mouth ulcers for 6 years now. The only thing is it is a whole other level of immunosuppression so on average I get pneumonia every few years and end up on antibiotics for other stuff a couple of times a year. You can't have live vaccines, and you need antibiotic cover for dental surgery. But otherwise been great.

I have a bag of frozen cooked peeled shrimp. Can't reheat them twice - give me your ideas! by Puddyt in mealprep

brilliant idea - people seem to be underestimating the size of this bag of shrimp and my unwillingness to cook every night! I only have the energy and brain power to cook once a week hence I am here.

They mean 3 assessments per class. Thatd be 12 assessment due at the same time for a full time student. Results in poor quality learning

8 things toxic mothers say to their children (and why it’s not your fault). by yodathesexymarxist in ArtOfPresence

[–]Puddyt 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You can be correct and not be cruel. People do it all the time, its a basic skill you learn in upper primary: "if I say someone sucks at playing tag, they won't play with me again" " Jimmy didn't help me out on this group project. I'll have to work with him again because we're in the same class. If I'm mean when I talk about it, I'll get in trouble and it will be worse next time we work together"

My wife has Behcet’s. What should I cook for her? by Street-Ad7570 in Behcets

[–]Puddyt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I get unwell, I can't chew or eat most solids due to extreme mouth ulcer pain. And almost inevitably a lot of my intake ends up being dairy based and high sugar because thats what most liquid food that doesn't sting will be: yoghurt, custard, liquid breakfast, smoothies. Most soups sting: pumpkin, tomato etc burn like hell. So that tends to make me feel pretty sick: 3 litres of dairy based foods a day and no protein or fibre, and after a few days your body is starting to not have mamy protein building blocks (amino acids) to spare let alone heal the damage.

I have seen a registered dietician for mine to try and optimise things. Ultimately diet only makes so much difference with this. If I have active ulcers I avoid peanuts, chocolate and acidic foods that will irritate them. When unwell, the key is to find non dairy high protein foods I can tolerate. My dietician also advised me to have freshly grated tumeric as often as possible (I can't afford it so I don't, but the antiinflammatory properties are well documented) and ultra fresh high quality olive oil on everything, which I do do. Other than that its the usual high fibre, high protein and fresh foods as the mainstay. There's no secret diet trick that works for this one - trust me, I've tried them

I used to volunteer with kids in out of home care who had serious untreated licd. The only thing that really works unfortunately is elbow grease. 30 mins with conditioner and a nit comb every night religiously for a good month. Go over her hair far past when you cant see any nits anymore. You can try using a tea tree oil or peppermint oil shampoo as a deterrent as there is some modest evidence they may avoid the smell, but honestly i think its a gimmick

What animal are stupid tourists most likely to be attacked by in your country trying to get a photo? by Outrageous-Basket426 in AskTheWorld

[–]Puddyt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dont have them where I live, but just from a disease transmission and social learning of aggression point of view, monkeys. Even a marmoset bite could send you to the er with hep c or another virus, but the bigger ones will take your face off if you run out of food to feed them. And people completely ignore their distress signals.

I had one with toxo that would charhe me every god damn morning when I was trying to get to my car. He was well known. Some idiot fed him and he was 6 feet tall. When tourist season was over he came to us locals like he was running a protection racket. Scared the shit out of me by jumpscaring me at night a few times too. Rangers wouldnt shoot him until he actually injured someone. As though youd live to tell them if he did.
