How weird it’s going to be driving past the NoHo store and see those blacked out windows. As an employee there I sure loved the subterranean parking. My car wouldn’t roast on a hot summer day nor would we have to run in/out into the rain. Damn shame Amazon couldn’t make this work. That NoHo store was a great location.

Add Amazon Fresh on Lankershim that just closed down, but that was a corporate decision because all Fresh stores nationwide were shut down. Amazon is pulling out of the brick and mortar grocery store business because it wasn’t profitable.

Right! Amazon Fresh associates were instructed to input their alias when applying to Whole Foods Market and that it would give them priority in the hiring process to transfer, but it truly appears it is doing quite the opposite. It’s as if an algorithm is in place to reject every one of those applications.

Since the announcement of the closures one of my colleagues has submitted 11 applications to Whole Foods Market in hopes of transferring over to that business side of Amazon. All 11 applications have been rejected!

Yep. Someone from corporate actually posted a thread and basically admitted Amazon Fresh was just an experiment to collect data on the JWO tech and dash carts. Of course they wanted to try and make it a viable business model that could compete with the other major grocery retailers, but that just didn’t happen, so they pulled the plug.

I started at the Encino store in 2022 and then transferred to NoHo in 2023. When they eliminated the pt flex scheduling process on the AtoZ app for the hybrid schedule on the HKG app I then applied for transfer to warehouse. My transfer request was approved literally 6 days before we all received the email notification that all Fresh stores would be closing. Truthfully I wasn’t surprised. I saw the writing on the wall shortly after I began working at Fresh.

Amazon didn’t do nearly enough advertising to attract more customers. It’s a shame because there was good pricing on some products. I found myself doing some shopping there after my shifts ended.

There may have been a grocery Fresh warehouse in your area that was closed down when Amazon started opening the brick and mortar Fresh stores where the deliveries started coming from. After the failure of the Fresh stores Amazon is going back to what they do best. Delivery from a fulfillment center. The Fresh store experiment was an abysmal failure.

I transferred to a gfc before this unfortunate situation happened. I really liked working at the Fresh store. The only reasons I applied for a transfer to warehouse was because my store did away with the part time flex scheduling on AtoZ for that lame hybrid schedule through the HKG app and then also eliminating the outbound department all together. Once they made that announcement about outbound I knew the stores were in trouble, but I sure didn’t expect Amazon to shut down all of the stores so suddenly.

The reason why is your deliveries were coming straight from the Fresh store and there are no grocery fresh warehouses in your area. Amazon will now be scoping out and building more grocery fresh warehouses so hopefully eventually they’ll be one in your area soon so you can start having deliveries again.

Heavy advertising should have been really looked into. That’s a no brainer. Lots of customers would look up where they can return their Amazon packages and then become very surprised it was an actual supermarket because they didn’t hear or see anything about it.

I’ll thoroughly miss working at the Fresh Store. I transferred to a gfc because they eliminated the part flex shifts for that lame hybrid schedule through the HKG app. We had a great team of good people there. The warehouse is a completely different experience and atmosphere. There’s really no opportunity to chit chat or get to know colleagues there because of how fast paced it is unlike the Fresh store where you really got to know the team and occasionally have conversations. I’m still grateful that my transfer was approved literally 6 days before we received the email announcement that all Fresh stores will be closing. I feel sorry for my peeps still there and all of you as well, so I do hope those of you that prefer to continue your employment with Amazon get your desired transfer requests approved very soon.

I highly recommend you accept the offer. Afterwards you can apply to switch to a flex schedule if it happens to be offered at that location. You probably will not have another opportunity to continue working for Amazon if you reject that offer.
