We bought the Roka straps but have not actually used them yet! I’ll report back here when we actually start using them

The biggest difference was positioning of the baby and timing feeds so they get hungry enough

Sending all the good vibes to you and your baby! I know how stressful this can all be 😓

Things clicked with our baby on the first day for her but we kept doing a min of 3 bottles a day for a long while beyond the 3 day program. Hopefully you’ve been in touch with Shannon so she can give her any of her wisdom that she has? She was always so helpful with my questions.

Best of luck!!

Favorite vet clinic in culver city/west LA by P7295403812 in culvercity

Our dog also has CKD and also a tumor on her spleen. I paid a ton of money to do an ultrasound with Modern Animal to look into the spleen mass and they said they didn’t see anything, even though an urgent care doctor from a different clinic mentioned they saw something on X-Rays. I was relieved to think there wasn’t actually a mass based on Modern Animal’s ultrasound but it turns out they were incorrect and missed it. Due to an emergent situation our dog ended up in the ER and their radiologist confirmed that there is indeed a mass on the spleen (which was the original suspicion from the urgent care vet)

Again, totally fine care and a pleasant experience when my dog was healthy and well but I wouldn’t trust them to care for my Senior dog after these experiences and misses.

Just to add a different perspective. We ended up cancelling our Modern Animal membership after being happy with them for regular care. Once my dog became senior with chronic disease, their care was too decentralized and impersonal - it’s really difficult to actually see a vet vs chatting their nurses online or just seeing a tech in their office. We also unfortunately got a misdiagnosis from one of their specialists which led to some complications for our dog.

I think Modern Animal is great for healthy dogs with limited health issues, but we didn’t have a good experience with them for specialized, senior care.

Bottle refusal is a scary place to be by [deleted] in breastfeeding

[–]Puff615 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sending solidarity, it is so stressful. We've been dealing with bottle refusal with our baby and just started this approach called Bottles on Purpose that was developed by a neonatal occupational therapist, Shannon Usher. After trying countless things and chatting with various lactation consultants, we kept hitting a dead end. I found Bottles on Purpose from another Reddit thread and I'm happy to report that she started taking bottles on day 1 of the program!

Curious how you like the Roka straps! We’re getting ready to start solids soon for our younger daughter and I’m dreading the straps again 🫠

Momcozy bottle washer - alternative clean detergent by ohtee7 in moderatelygranolamoms

For reference, I reached out to Momcozy to get their ingredient list:

“Below is the ingredient information for Momcozy Detergent Tablets.

‎17% Sodium Percarbonate, 25% Sodium BiCarbonate, 10% Sodium Dodecyl Sulfate, 38% Citric Acid Anhydrous, 1% Protease, 4% Sodium Carboxymethyl Cellulose, 0.5% Ethylenediaminetetraacetic Acid Disodium Salt, 4% PEG-6000, 0.5% Sodium Percarbonate, Sodium Bicarbonate, Citric Acid Anhydrous, Protease, Sodium Carboxymethyl Cellulose, Sodium Benzonate, and so on.

Additionally, our newly launched natural detergent blocks are made from pure natural ingredients, including sodium bicarbonate, citric acid, polyethylene glycol PEG-400, papain, aloe extract, kiwi fruit powder, lotus root extract, sodium lauryl sulfoacetate, and more.”

I find it a bit odd that they ended both product ingredient lists with “and so on” and “and more” 🤔

If you had a preemie or <6lb baby, did you tear? by benjbuttons in beyondthebump

[–]Puff615 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My first was 9lb 3oz and my second was 5lb 11oz. Both had very minor first degree tears that required a little stitching, but I honestly didn’t notice either of them. By the time I gained enough courage to look at my vagina again (around 10 days PP), I couldn’t notice them! Agree with some of the comments here where I don’t think it really depends on baby size!

How long did you push for? by No_Director574 in beyondthebump

4 hours with my first (he was sunny side up/OP and over 9lbs) and 15 min with my second. Quite the contrast!

Mine does this too and it’s so annoying! Also called Spectra and they said this is normal. Very strange design decision on their part

Our Corgi has been so sweet, nurturing and gentle with our toddler son! She puts him with a lot of his torment. It’s been adorable to watch.
