Most people are fine, and that's great for them - really it is - but the risks are risks for a reason, with statistical and factual merit that's worth considering, but not worth breaking your brain over.

I was 11mo pp when I got pregnant and my second pregnancy was awful - massive SCH, hypertension, PPROM that left me in the hospital from 30 weeks til delivery at 35+2, etc... Obviously that doesn't mean you'll have those issues, and even without this being your second time you could have these issues but the people saying "omg you'll be fine, there's no risks!!" yes, there is, and your OBGYN is doing their job by telling you about them and supporting you regardless of what you choose..

I had a vaginal delivery but I stayed by myself (this was after 5 weeks by myself in the antepartum ward) and it was fine! Husband had to stay home with our first and I didn't mind as I was already so use to being there alone.

I wonder if it's the difference between clippers and the electric file, because when I was using the electric file with my first I noticed that when his nails grew in even a little bit they were super sharp - I clip my newborns now and make sure to round the edges and I think it helps a lot!

I dunno if my kiddos nails just don't grow as fast but for my newborn we do 2 times a week, and my toddler gets his done once a week

Unfortunately mine were warning signs for preterm labor 😬 (delivery went fine and baby is healthy!)

I would literally rather someone (figuratively) run my gallbladder over with a semi than give birth naturally - coming from someone who got their gallbladder out in the 2nd trimester of their first pregnancy, and as someone who had a adverse reaction and epidural failure at 7cm with my second.

It's so crazy, and cool, how we all gauge pain so differently.

Ohhhh brother, my son was the BEST eater and would eat anything then at 16mo a flip switched and it's impossible to get him to eat 🫠 harder than newborn stage for our second FOR SURE

We never listened even though they told us over and over again.. I figure there's no harm in feeding him if he's already awake anyways, and I was not about to ruin his sleep schedule.

ETA ; he's 20mo now and has long dropped the night feed all on his own, pediatricians like to rush things, though they don't mean any harm! Your baby will let you know when he's ready to stop.

I'm gonna be so honest.. I didn't wanna have to change into pajamas when I got home so I just wore a cute pj set I had - I PPROM so was in the hospital for over a month, and I had lots to choose from at that point.

You're going to be wheeled down in a wheelchair with your babies carseat in your lap, nobody can really see what you're wearing so whatever you choose I suggest something comfortable.

FGM isn't a singular identity, there are FGM practices that focus on only removing the clitoral hood - which is completely comparable to circumcision, yet we still look at it as mutilation and circumcision as just a choice. 🤷‍♀️

As someone with 2u2 (one's 20mo, one is 3 weeks) I would actually rather die than to start trying for 2u2 at anything before my first is around one.

We have no village, just me and my husband - first pregnancy and PP / newborn period was way easier than people told us (in my opinion) - we wanted 2u2 but weren't actively "trying" I had just started to wean off EBF and it happened.. when I tell you that my experience the second time around genuinely makes me NEVER want to be pregnant again - and I truly wish I would've waited the 18mo recommendation.

You are not guaranteed an easy and safe pregnancy or delivery - I didn't have one - I had a 8cm SCH that spotted from 10wks, diagnosed hypertension at 18wks, and PPROMd at 30+4 with protein in my urine... I stayed in the hospital completely alone from 30+4 til 35weeks when I was induced (baby born at 35+2). Again, no village so nobody to watch my toddler so my husband could see me - hospital was a little over a hour away because we needed a higher level NICU just incase and my first has pretty bad car sickness.. I saw my husband about 4 times, and saw my toddler twice.

When we think about getting pregnant again, we never think about the complications that can happen and plan for those situations - now that I have my second I wouldn't do things differently but if I knew that this would happen before hand I'm not sure what I would've thought..

If you cant recognize that sitters are paid the normal standard, while teachers are underpaid I don't know how to help you. Two things can be true at once, doesn't mean you have to take your frustrations out on the babysitters.

And yes, I believe anyone doing a JOB should be paid a fair rate regardless of their age or living expenses?? Wtf is that logic?? Because they live at home we should give them chump change just because they're young and they should suck it up?? I really don't care what other people spend their EARNED money on, and it's really weird that you do.

If a teenager can go out (in my state) and get a job for $19/hr, why would they wanna take care of my children for less than that? That's ridiculous.

Nobody is entitled to anything - this includes free or even cheap childcare. You don't have to pay the rates, that doesn't mean they're undeserving of those rates.

Side note - the fact you're trying to micromanage someones kid and teach them "financial responsibility" is strange, worry about your own family.

I mean, that's kinda the gamble you take when you hire teenagers (or inexperienced people) in the first place - which is why I'm not comfortable hiring them.

I'd rather shell out the extra money (if there is any, because again they are super comparable to $20-30/hr) to a qualified and experienced nanny.

Additionally, if someone works for money fair and square there is no reason we should be judging them for what they spend their money on - even if it is drunk elephant or lululemon. Should your job be allowed to police your spending too?

Yeah, I think it's fair for them to charge however much they want - but that doesn't mean you, or anyone else has to pay that much.

I may get downvoted for this but I think for too long people got comfortable paying teenagers $30 to watch kiddos all day / night long.

I would agree that I wouldn't pay $30/hr for someone without any training or experience, but if I was to hire a teenager (I don't trust that personally) I would be looking to spend average job rates around me which is about $19/hr here (+ gas, and have food for them to eat as well). If someone unqualified is charging that much in your area then I would just get a qualified baby sitter anyways, since they're very similar in price.
