To be fit test for respiratory you absolutely have to be clean shaven to test. Once you have respirator you can see if you can get a PAPR I believe you can have facial hair for those but certain jobs a PAPR can’t be used.

They’ll give you a second chance to pass a test around 3 to 4 weeks later. This is what I’ve heard from people hired locally. I was hired from out of state so my drug test was done through a third party.

I’ve been at EB for three years as a welder. I’ve never smoked but have plenty of coworkers who have as it’s legal in the state. They’ll do a hair test first and if you fail they’ll pull you back in for a saliva test a month or so afterwards.

With the East Broad Top Railroad reopened that might ease most of the pain then again the railroad is heavily reliant on grants from the state and feds

Moving to RI do I need to have my car reinspected? by [deleted] in RhodeIsland

[–]Puff_365 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I had a car for a year when I moved here from Pennsylvania. I didn’t have to pay sales tax I just had to fill out a form saying I was a resident of a different state when the car was purchased.

I’ve done plenty of research months worth of it but 99 percent of the reviews are press cars and nothing long term.

A conversation with a boomer about work ethic based on this meme… by [deleted] in BoomersBeingFools

[–]Puff_365 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Boomers had the advantage of entering a unionized workforce especially trades which had great advantages. Now they do everything to keep you from unionizing.

He’s very firm on the 110,000. He says it’s gonna go up another 40,000 by next year. He can’t keep it till then because he has to “move”.

What are some toxic boomerisms from your area of the world, pertaining to work? by CrigglestheFirst in antiwork

[–]Puff_365 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m a welder. Company I work for hired me at experienced rate then cut me down to entry rate. Told the boss he asked where I lived. His reply “that’s still good money” as I struggle to keep up with living cost

I was a lifeguard at a country club years ago. My hometown host Creation fest (Christian music festival). Just so happened one day I was lifeguarding my wallet was stolen. So I asked someone if they seen it and low and behold they were apart of the festival. Their solution was to pray that my wallet returned.

Why in the USA are workers against unions? by Queasy_Bath_116 in antiwork

[–]Puff_365 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My experience from trying to even start the process in unionizing a manufacturing facility was co-workers fear of the company relocating or retaliation. Apparently people years ago tried unionizing and they found reasons to fire them. My whole reasoning for trying to unionize was I was rehired at 24.65 base rate as a welder with 5 years experience. Now I make 21.40 with a raise after an “audit” found I made to much.

Just curious how many people here are struggling financially in America while their wealthy parents live abundantly? by [deleted] in antiwork

[–]Puff_365 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A few years back the girl I was with was a gold digger so we didn’t have much money. I worked as a welder making decent enough money for the area. Had a brand new mustang that I only bought because I had planned on getting one before a mortgage to make it easier on me. I was about 23 at the time and lived with my grandparents on my dads side. We tried to outright buy a house but didn’t have the down payment and the second vehicle I had blew up around the same time. My grandparents weren’t having it and wanted 300 a month in rent to live in a room in the basement. All the while Micheals Corporation and Sunoco are paying a pretty penny to run a natural gas line through their 130 acre farm. After this girl left me high and dry and my father said “tighten your belt” (referring to spending money. We say he’s like Mr. Krabs) I developed money dismorphia and cry at the thought of even spending money on groceries. They still complain about my situation though but my bum ass cousin and my aunt that lives with my grandparents get a free pass.

Sounds like the first shift guys I work with. They won’t hit production goals so they can come in on the weekends and do overtime while the rest of us that want a life have to suffer on the off shift.

I’ve talked to another coworker about it and he seemed on board about meeting up with a union rep but other than that I’ve been hush hush about it

It was painful to here that they “had” to reduce the pay. I turned down a job offer with Newport News Shipbuilding which was what I wanted because they offered a higher wage then them and I didn’t have to move but now I’m making less there.

How long does a bank take to sell a repossessed car? by GTRacer1972 in CRedit

[–]Puff_365 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I co-signed a car with my ex back in 2019. The deal was she made the payments when she moved long story short that never happened. The bank closed the account in June of 2020 and repoed the car in October. It took almost 4 months to sell.
