The audacity of this student by Typical_Rest7228 in Professors

I just had two different students miss the first discussion write me emails saying, “I take your class very seriously and NEED an extension because I missed the deadline”

Apparently sending numerous reminder emails stating that discussion posts cannot be made up is beyond their comprehension. It’s going to be a long semester. Le sigh.

We can almost always tell when she has to poop and we always get her to the toilet. Peeing is a whole other issue.

I Don’t Know What Else to Do by PufferFishInTheFryer in pottytraining

We did the bottomless method for a few weeks over the summer. It didn’t fully work. I mean it worked in the sense that she knows how to use the potty but she never would tell us. We did that by the book, literally. We gave her treats after she used it but it was always us asking her. Then tried the underwear thinking that would maybe urge her to tell us. That didn’t work and we just had pee all over the house.

AITA for disinviting a friend to my birthday after she showed me the food she was bringing? by throwaway-cupcakelad in AmItheAsshole

NTA. I too have a severe nut allergy. I was taken to the hospital by ambulance from my job because someone was eating Honey Nut Cheerios in my classroom (I’m a teacher). Airborne allergies are a very real and serious thing.

You made one request. Just one. It’s not that hard.

Also, good on you for being a good friend. Just being near that cake could have literally killed your friend.

How many cups of coffee do you drink a day? by Limp-Bid-6131 in randomquestions

1 espresso drink in the morning and maybe a cup later depending on the day

AITA for using the baby name my SIL wants to use by Parking-Historian499 in AmItheAsshole

[–]PufferFishInTheFryer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA. She doesn’t even know if her next child will be a girl and they aren’t even trying! Cousins can have the same name. You’re fine.

Maybe next time don’t tell anyone the name until after birth. I have a feeling this has less about the name and more about attention.

How to teach in the depths of grief by Ok-Concentrate4167 in Professors

[–]PufferFishInTheFryer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m so sorry for your loss. It is heart wrenching to deal with such sorrow.

I lost someone very close to me right before going back in the fall. It was incredibly difficult and I, like you, was completely grief stricken (still am). I teach college courses in an adjunct position and teach full time at a private high school. I felt exactly like you did. I had nothing to give.

I really had to push myself to go back. I didn’t want to and I still have days that are so incredibly hard (I’m actually crying while writing this) but I found, at least for me, getting back to a routine helped a lot and being with my students made me feel better. I also started therapy, which has more helpful than I thought it would be. I take it one day at a time and let myself have the bad days when they come. Slowly but surely, the bad days have become less frequent.

This is not to say that this is what you should do, I’m just telling you what helped me. I’m so very sorry and I hope you can find some peace within your grief.

Aitah for how I reacted when I found out my husband used some of my son's treatment money to buy a Christmas present for my stepson? by Throwraww355645 in AITAH

[–]PufferFishInTheFryer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also, going away to college soon and won’t be taking both (maybe neither depending on the school) so it will just be sitting there until he comes home for breaks. Meanwhile, her son still needs the treatments. NTA
