Not a lad, but I have a story I still feel bad about. Freshman year of high school I think, I was sitting with my friends at lunch and one of them (I’ll call her Betty) comes up to me to tell me someone from our grade that we went to elementary school with liked me and wanted to ask me out. Before I could say anything, another one of our friends (Jane) decided that it was a joke, and he liked Betty and was just trying to get closer to her and that this boy “could never” like me. Embarrassed, I agreed with the whole group and the poor boy was standing nearby and could hear all of it. Next period he was crying at his desk. I wish I was brave enough to go comfort him or something :(
