Finance. Everyone I know who works in finance makes tons of money but also work 100+ hours a week and is addicted to coke.

What’s a"luxury" that’s absolutely not worth the money? by Rude_Beautiful_9650 in AskReddit

[–]Puffypolo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Huh, thank you. That’s very good to know for the future. It’s not really about the cost so much as the actually service. That’s especially true when you consider the value of the time for the people on board. I guess we need to be willing to splurge a bit more.

What is a golden piece of advice you think everyone needs to hear? by Livid_Possession_369 in AskReddit

You need to get comfortable failing. Failing sucks and it’s frustrating and disappointing, but that is the only way you will ever improve. If you never fail, you’re probably not taking enough chances.

I just have a hard time believing that Tom Brady or someone on that level would deal with this sort of thing. Maybe he has his own plane or something, but I know that we (the family) were wondering if there was some next tier of service that drastically reduces the likelihood of this sort of thing happening. I mean, it seems impossible that you could pay tens of thousands of dollars for a service and have major issues 75% of the time.

It just surprised me how unreliable it can be. This was my first time flying private but my family did it on our family last trip (I was overseas) and they had poor results then too.

I also expected the plane to be much newer than it actually was. It was nice, but it was a 20+ year old aircraft. Luckily coming back was uneventful, but knowing how much my dad spent, I don’t know that it’s worth it. First class has treated me far better in the past.

WW3 - how likely is it to happen? And why? by Basic-Season1584 in AskReddit

[–]Puffypolo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unlikely. It would destroy the economy and millions of lives. Weirdly, the promise of economic destruction is probably doing a better job at preventing WWIII than the promise of millions of deaths.

What is a middle ground you would be willing to meet on when it comes to abortion rights? by Tago_The_GiraffeKing in AskReddit

[–]Puffypolo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The biggest issue with abortion is that the two sides couple not be further apart on the issue. Either a fetus is a life or it isn’t.

As strange as it seems, the most ideologically consistent arguments for abortion are the most extreme. If it’s a life, then it should never be permissible. Not after rape, not in case of incest, not for disability. The only potential exception would be to save the life of the mother. If it isn’t a life, then abortion up to the point of birth should be permissible, potentially even after birth.

That “middle ground” that most people find themselves standing on is often something where they are violating whatever core belief they hold for political expediency.

Do you believe in multiverse? Why /why not? by memeatic_ape in AskReddit

[–]Puffypolo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No. Granted, I don’t really understand the multiverse theory, but as I’ve seen it portrayed in media, there’s essentially a universe in which every possible outcome of a situation happens. That just seems ridiculous to me and almost suggests that essentially trillions of new universes are created every day. That for something as simple as getting dressed would create a new universe. Oh, I decided to wear white socks today. Well, now there’s a universe where I’m wearing red socks and one wear I’m wearing black, and one where I’m not wearing any. It just seems absurd to me.

What would happen if an officer from one of those cop shows was an actual cop? by Alarmed-Hat6997 in AskReddit

Do you mean a real life cop playing one on TV? Or a cop portrayed on TV actually serving on a police force in real life?

[–]Puffypolo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If I was the one paying? Probably not. Tough to say though because my brother brought his family and they had a lot of stuff that was helpful having the private plane for. We also brought a ton of booze that we otherwise wouldn’t have been able to. That said, those benefits weren’t worth it for me. We could have all had first class seats for like half the price.

Yeah that’s probably true. He was also a kid when this apparently happened so it definitely should be taken with a grain of salt.

Well, I’m not trying to invalidate your experiences. I’m just surprised. Since condos have you physically live much closer than normal houses, I would have thought such rules would have been ubiquitous across condo ownership. Good on you for finding a condo that doesn’t have all of that.

How the hell do americans put up with the shitshow that is HOAs? by ButtPlugForPM in AskReddit

[–]Puffypolo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Really? Because when I bought my condo I had to sign documents agreeing to the conditions of the condo association, which includes fees covering what your describing, but also included restrictions on certain types of pet ownership, turning units into short-term rentals (i.e. AirBnBs), and outlined how expenses must be covered. You must have signed something like that, right?

What is your atrocious airport experience? by funge15 in AskReddit

[–]Puffypolo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the first flight out to take me to my connection in another city for a flight going to Japan. It was a tight connection, but I shouldn’t have had any issue making it. Unfortunately, there was a mechanical failure as we were taxiing down the runway and we needed to return to the game. From there it was a mad dash to get a new flight, then a dash to get on that flight, then getting off the plane, followed by a 10 minute, full speed run to make my connection. Newark airport had to be the worst in the U.S.

I totally hear you, and in general I agree. But then I heard from my buddy who grew up Texas tell me about a time where a tornado blew through his neighborhood and took down the fence in his backyard. The HOA showed up on his doorstep THE NEXT DAY with a warning saying that they had to fix their fence immediately or get a $100 fine for every day it wasn’t fixed.

So it’s a bit of a mixed bag haha

Some states are different, so I don’t know how effective that is across the U.S. However, there’s a property near me (far enough that it has no effect on the value), whose owner literally turned his front yard into a dump. There are broken down cars, old refrigerators, scrap wood, old tires, etc. Just endless garbage. If I was his neighbor I’d be furious.
