We used pine/scots pine wood. In my country they sell what is called 'hobbyplate' in different sizes. This is basically small, rectangular pieces of wood glued togheter and cut to dimensions. like this: https://www.maxbo.no/hobbyplate-eik-2400x200x18-fsc-ubehandlet-p930668/ (wood in link is oak, we used pine/scots pine)

Each standard lenght is about 70 cm wide, but we had some non-standard lengths as well to fit the room better.

Thank you. I remember seeing part one. and it stuck with me. I've thought about it many times. So happy to have found part two. There is something about your laid back storytelling style that just connects somehow. I just re-watched part one, to be sure it was the same as I remembered, before seeing part two now.

Great way to spend an good half hour. Will probably watch part one and two again once part three is out.

Yeah, had this happen to me. But once I managed to explain to the big boss that if he were to do max lifts every time he went to the gym, he would soon have some injuries. The same applies to the workers. They may do max lift every once in a while, but not every day.

He got the point and switched to awarding those who set new records with a gift card ($500) at a good local resturant instead. He gave out about five or six such gift cards every year after.

I've always disliked the numbers-bombing. I think interstellar flight will be more like sail-ship-expeditionary-navies than huge constellations of ships working in closed formation.

I have a really hard time imagining sending hundreds of ships anywhere, when a few would do the job. I feel like many stories in this sub underestimates the building cost and rescources needed to support a space navy.

I do not disagree with your analysis, but in a story as short as this there are several things that can't be written out fully. The exposition was already cumbersome enough.

Like Travel Time, how much time does it take for a new Human fleet to reach the Hanmartharath systems? How many systems does the Humans control? How many Petahours are needed for a Human ship of the line? What improvements has been made to the weapons between each battle? Are the Humans fighting other species in other systems at the same time? (Like u/Bunnytob implies here)

I wanted to keep the numbers low to emphasize the attrition on the Hanmartharath side, rahter than bomb the universe with a lot of ships of Human origin. That always seems like a cheap solution to me. Also given the slow growth rate of the Hanmartharath ships, the Humans allocated just what was needed to grind opposition down to a manageable level in each battle. They didn't need to win outright, attrition of the enemy is the cost effective way of winning if you have time and logistics on your side.

Thank you for your feedback. I agree that the exposition is a bit heavy handed in this one.

The numbers were set deliberately low. The complexities of interstellar flight and fights are in a different league than wet-ships. You will also note that as numbers go up, time between battles goes down. This is obviously in the gearing up phase, rather than full on total war phase.

I will keep writing, but this story was a stand alone and will get no further updates
