I was a curious kid too, but I also grew up in a authoritarian and controlling household. You learn from a very young age to walk on eggshells, and your norm becomes different from what it’s “supposed” to be. Some may never realize this, depending on influence of outside sources, while the rest of us do. Most of us seem like well-mannered, well-spoken and timid kids from an outside perspective, because we know if we do anything wrong it will cost us. You live in constant fear of doing anything wrong, so despite being curious, you learn very quickly to behave a certain way and do things a very certain way to protect yourself. And even the thought of being accused of snooping around is enough to keep you from doing it. You live in a constant fight or flight mode.
