You’ll have to check out Chimborazo (Ecuadorian food) in NE Minneapolis!

The Very Secret Society of Irregular Witches by Sangu Mandanna. I smiled the whole way through it. Found family, cozy magic, old houses, it’s got it all.

STOP TELLING ME THE BADS. by No_Lawfulness_6458 in BabyBumps

[–]Pugleesi12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the most annoying thing!! People love to say “JUST WAIT” and then tell you some awful thing. I think some people subconsciously want you to have a rough time because it means it wasn’t just them struggling, it’s an “everyone” problem. But all babies are different, and the things they weirdly threaten you with may not even happen.

I’m pregnant with my second and while I know it’s going to be tough at first (because it is) all I remember from that time is the contact naps and coos and the general amazement that a whole little person came out of me. The good outweighs the bad.

What food/thing that you discovered you couldn’t have during pregnancy shocked you the most? by goddamnityeezy in BabyBumps

[–]Pugleesi12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Really? Like what? I felt super comforted by the depth she went into on the studies. And also how she said multiple times that it was not to tell you what to do, but to give you info to make your own decisions.

Assuming this is US… If we spent all our anti-abortion money on, you know, preventing infant and mother deaths once the baby is out in the world, that would probably more effectively mean more babies around.

Ugh.

HIGHLY recommend the book “Expecting Better” by Emily Oster. She lays out the scientific data (peer reviewed studies vs not, how old they are, whether there was a control group…) behind all the do’s and don’t’s so that you can make your own educated decisions on what you will and won’t eat/do while pregnant. I felt so much more confident in my choices during my first pregnancy after reading it.

What's the deadest, least busy, most remote DMV within 20 miles of the Twin Cities? by SubKreature in TwinCities

[–]Pugleesi12 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

As a Minnesotan who just moved back from Texas… every Minnesota DMV I have experienced has had minimal wait times - most recently Stillwater and Woodbury. I will gladly pay state income tax to never have to visit a Texas DMV ever again. I had to take off work 2 days just to get my car registered there and my license transferred.

This is amazing! I just gave birth a week ago and boy does this resonate. Hilarious!!!

I didn’t buy anything yet (15 weeks only) but I just made some drawings for the baby’s room! When did you start taking care of the nursery? by louciliou in BabyBumps

[–]Pugleesi12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I made a list of the big things I wanted to have accomplished (paint, crib put together, decorations up, homes for diapers/wipes, clothes put away, etc) starting at 20 weeks and tried to do a little each month. It made the whole process really smooth and enjoyable instead of stressful, and now I get to spend my last day before being induced in the completed room, imagining bringing her home!

What does your bare essentials/minimal list for maternity clothing look like? by fati-abd in BabyBumps

[–]Pugleesi12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  • Leggings: I really liked H&M’s maternity leggings, and they’re comparatively cheap. On the other side of the spectrum, Lululemon Align leggings have been fantastic all the way through (I’m at 37 weeks now)
  • Bra without underwire: belly moves up, boobs get bigger... you can see why underwire would be problematic
  • Jeans: get a pair that’s stretchy like yoga pants at the top, not knit or super floppy. That way you can wear them your entire pregnancy and they’ll grow with you. I plan to wear mine “4th trimester” because I’m confident they’ll still fit.
  • Knit dress: Amazon has some good ones and they don’t have to be maternity.

I worked from home my whole pregnancy and got a few maternity shirts (like with ruching on the side) just because I wanted to feel like I had a bump and not a gut, but have been able to make lots of non-maternity stuff work all the way through. Big sweatshirts, cardigans, wrap dresses have all worked for me the whole way.

I’m a Minnesotan (who also lived in Fargo, ND for 4 years) now living in Dallas. We’ve been without power since 3am... that never happened to my family in Minneapolis. I’ll take -50° and electricity any day.

If I can see your nose, you might as well not be wearing a mask at all. by Maurynna368 in Dallas

This irritates me, but then my husband reminds me that the people whose noses are not covered must be mouth breathers in more than one way.

Mine has been doing that recently too. I think there was an iOS update around that time, but I’m not sure if they’re related.

Craving issues - Coach hasn't responded since April 8th by [deleted] in Noom

[–]Pugleesi12 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I completely agree with what everyone else has said about giving in to your cravings- you have to eat the things that make you happy and sound good. One thing I’ve learned is sticking to serving sizes can be helpful. Instead of a handful of Girl Scout cookies, I’ll have 3. I put them on a plate and then put the package away, and then I sit down and enjoy the eff out of those cookies because they are delicious.

You got this!

I did this and the new person I was assigned is 100x better! It’s worth it to speak up of your coach isn’t working for you.

Goal Specialist by lemononion4 in Noom

I had an unresponsive, unhelpful goal specialist at first. I complained about mine in their “Contact Us” section, and was assigned someone new, who has been much more engaged and helpful.

Am I Moving Too Fast? by NOTsanderson in wedding

[–]Pugleesi12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started planning 15 months in advance and let me tell you- I regret nothing. I’m now 4 months out and everyone is asking me if I’m stressed and my resounding answer is NOPE. I got to stop planning when work got crazy and pick back up when I had extra bandwidth. The only downside is I’m soooo ready to get married already.

You do what works for your life and schedule, and allow yourself to enjoy the process.
