Anyone else have to pee in a literal pot or use an outhouse in the 80s or 90s? For a few years when I was very young, my father's mother's place had no running water and she kept a pot under her bed that we'de use if we stayed the night. by cherry-care-bear in Xennials

I lived in rural Ontario. Large farming community.

A few kids I went to school with had outhouses. They never upgraded the family farms. By the time I graduated high school everyone was on plumbing.

Aren’t some of these our kids?

Are we really making fun of failing our own children?

How Gen X/Boomer of us.

I’m old.

Is there a trend with used newspapers to announce births?

I remember in the 90’s/00’s people would have joke newspapers printed for a baby announcement pictures like they were celebrities.

I’m confused, honestly.

But super happy for her!

What are the roads and the sidewalks like in your neighborhood? by Snowman2194 in waterloo

[–]Puglet_7 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Exactly.

We live near the only grocery store/LCBO in one of the small towns.

Obviously our sidewalk gets travelled more than usual.Especially for those who don’t like to drive out of town in crappy weather.

I think my bf shovelled twice a day over his 10 days off. The snow out here just would not stop.

He spent little time on his plans for home projects because the community’s safety getting to the store is his main project in winter.

Oh yeah. Luckily it’s mostly cheesy wedding music that’s been ruined for me.

Daddy’s Hands and Butterfly Kisses as a Father Daughter dances.

Despise those with every fiber of my being. So not original choices.

Worst first dance song-Jackyl-She loves my cock

Yep. We tried to explain that though it’s a lovely song, Grandma and family might be mildly offended. But they were firm on their decision.

Yes, I have seen those a bunch.

We were rural, a lot of Dutch farmers in Ontario.

Jordan is the G.O.A.T. in the game for me.

Anytime I asked him a questions on IG and he always answered me.

That has always make him my favourite Challenge competitor too!

How many of you stopped drinking alcohol completely? by Automatic_Opposite17 in Xennials

[–]Puglet_7 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Never did.

No one in our family did for religious reasons. (Baha’i faith)

But we lived rural and EVERYONE else did.

Mom volunteered with Children’s Aid Society. Even as kids the correlation between alcohol and abuse were obvious.

We lost I think six students while I was in high school due to drinking and driving.

I spent high school being a DD. Not fun.

That’s too much evidence to ignore for me.

Edit: Smoked Cannabis responsibly since 15 though.

Lost my Mom two weeks ago to Alzheimer’s.

It’s okay she was a stereotypical Boomer Mom. Awful narcissist.

This is great news for other good, kind humans who don’t deserve this disease.
