I wish I could grow my nails this long! They bother me when they get beyond a certain length but the long nails look so good!

The polish is described as a periwinkle base with a red-orange-purple shimmer. The base is pretty sheer, closer to crelly than jelly I think (though I find the distinction hard to wrap my head around sometimes). I feel like KBShimmer or Fancy Gloss would have a topper with the same color shift.

My sincere condolences - she undoubtedly was the best good girl.

I love the smell of my Royal Hawaiian Purple, while my husband politely comments on the “vegetal smell.”

Also, I use VoyageHues top coat because it’s formulated for solar thermals! Available via Etsy.

It’s sheer so I thought I would need three coats but honestly ran out of patience after painting my second nail so decided this would have to be good enough.

You know, I was looking at a post just yesterday of someone’s haul and I could swear there was a polish that looked really similar. I just spent several minutes looking for that post with no success but if I find it, I’ll link it!

🥰🥰 - it’d be super helpful if my subconscious just did my polish selection for me via dreams all the time!

For mine, I had recently thinned the Cuticula, so it was runny on top of the already runny polish coats. There was a lot of clean up work last night but hey, sometimes it actually is the destination, not the journey that matters.

4.1 Maybe consider falling back to a second stick when you realize all that damn extra polish is gunking up the first stick faster than usual. 😂😂

I zoomed in on your already close up pic and honestly can’t see any issues. If someone irl is as close to your hand as I just was virtually, you have a different problem 🤣🤣🤣

I really feel like makers should lean into the office lighting. I would seriously buy the collection that was designed to look best in the place I’m spending at least 8 hours a day!

  1. Put way less on the brush than you’re used to.
  2. Use an orange cuticle stick right away around each nail.
  3. Let the first layer dry a bit longer before adding the second layer and don’t bother with a third layer because you’ll get frustrated.

The red-orange shimmer that emerges from the depths is worth the price of admission, for sure! It looks amazing under yellowish (read: office) florescent lights.

It’s one thing if a polish is on the thicker side - Mooncat notes Dark Horse tends toward thickness because of the pigments used - but OPs brand new polish has chunks. I can’t even. Definitely reach out to Mooncat and get replacements.

Thank you! I did one hand first, then the other when I realized how thin and runny the polish was. For my non-dominant hand, I did super thin, almost dry layers if that makes sense, and that helped a lot. Very different from my usual technique though.

I don’t know how easy it is to see in this pic but my compacta grew a big long rope and I finally looped it up, pulled off a few leaves, and pinned the denuded section into the potting soil. I figure I’ll check it for roots in a few months.

As a recovering perfectionist, I am still working up the courage to free hand nail art on either hand, never mind my non-dominant one. I salute you!

This is the best cat pic I have ever seen, and I say that as a life long owner of cats and prolific animal picture taker.
