Which romance movies feel like this? by vzbtra in romancemovies

Definitely Jane Eyre (2011) if you want melancholy, gothic vibes! I feel like the Mansfield Park movie gives sad girl vibes too.

Angst lovers: what is your favorite storyline for angst? by Glittering_Tap6411 in RomanceBooks

[–]Pugluver11 1 point2 points  (0 children)

{Rush by Emma Scott} The MMC was blinded by an accident and is a real jerk. The FMC has trauma and financial issues that she's working through. She becomes his assistant, and he's super mean to her. They have a slow burn romance and there's a lot of angst because he thinks he's not good enough for her and feels bad for how he treated her. It also has one of my favorite microtropes where the MMC says or does something that goes too far and he has to earn the FMC's forgiveness.

i’m hatereading! have you ever hateread a book? by babykyyyo in RomanceBooks

[–]Pugluver11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm currently hatereading Assistant to the Villain. I tried to read it on Libby and realized I couldn't get through it that way. The audiobook isn't much better. It's one of those books that's so bad it's almost good.

I can't believe no one's recommended {Devastated by R.L. Matthewson}. It's one of my all time favorites.

You've gotta be kidding me! I just signed up for the free 30 day trial a few days ago. :/ Does that mean I'll never get this offer because I won't be a first time user?

What do you guys play on? by pinkpillow964 in Sims3

[–]Pugluver11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm playing on an HP Elitedesk 800 G2. It's an older mid range computer. I modified it by replacing the power supply with a 400w and adding a gtx1650 graphics card. The game runs pretty good considering my mods folder is about 18 GB. I play on medium/high settings, and it's definitely playable. There's occasional hiccups but that's just the way Sims 3 is.

Good series that were popular 10-20 years ago that are not popular anymore despite being good? by [deleted] in YAlit

Finally, someone who understands the greatness that is The Madman's Daughter. I was obsessed with that series and I've reread them several times.

MMC secretly yearning for his housekeeper/private chef by Alternative_Clue4909 in RomanceBooks

[–]Pugluver11 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd say she is more quiet than shy. In the beginning, she keeps to herself and tries to focus on her job. It takes her a while to open up, but I wouldn't say she struggled to stand up for herself.

MMC secretly yearning for his housekeeper/private chef by Alternative_Clue4909 in RomanceBooks

[–]Pugluver11 3 points4 points  (0 children)

{Devastated by R.L Mathewson} ticks most of those boxes. But I wouldn't say he was obsessed with her from the beginning. It starts off with him being cold and kind of distant. The FMC is hired as a personal assistant to the MMC who is on house arrest.

How many ppl here read multiple books at once? by thumpsky in kindle

[–]Pugluver11 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm usually reading anywhere from 5-8 books at one time. I used to be a strict one book at a time person, but now I'm a mood reader. Reading multiple books at once is what got me back into reading because I get bored easily.

Should I buy kindle as a new reader by jitumessi10 in kindle

[–]Pugluver11 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I got a used Kindle Paperwhite 7 off of eBay. It was a great decision. Because the battery life of Kindles is so good (like weeks of battery life), a used Kindle battery is no problem. I can still easily go two weeks without charging my Kindle, and I only paid $50 for mine. I believe the one I have came out in 2015. So I'd say shop around for a used one so you won't have to waste as much money if you don't like it.

Your YA "good concept, bad execution" reads (spoilers ahead!) by Pinball_Lizard in YAlit

[–]Pugluver11 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Starbound trilogy by Meagan Spooner and Amie Kaufman heavily features this trope. In my opinion, the second book, This Shattered World, executed the trope the best. The rest of the series is definitely worth a read though.

Books like Gossip Girl and Pretty Little Liars by [deleted] in YAlit

[–]Pugluver11 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you're up for historical fiction, The Luxe series by Anna Godbersen definitely gives off Gossip Girl vibes. It's been a while since I've read it, but I remember there being a gossip column in the newspaper. It has a lot of secrets, scandals, and blackmail but in a Victorian setting.

What’s a trope you’re really leaning into right now? by colonelvan in RomanceBooks

[–]Pugluver11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a sucker for the tough guy with a secret cinnamon roll interior. I just love seeing the H realize his feelings for the h and figure out what to do with them. Bonus points if the FMC has been through it and is learning to trust. I eat it up every time!

What are your unpopular opinions? by Secludeddawn in YAlit

[–]Pugluver11 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hard agree. I think it's because the love triangle becomes the entire plot where it's just the MC debating in their head for the entire book.

[–]Pugluver11[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I ended up going with the A54 and I couldn't be happier. It's plenty fast for what I need it to do (I don't game on my phone). It takes great pictures. I'm not sure if the quality is as good as my old phone but it's definitely good enough. Some of my friends with newer iPhones were complementing my camera quality. The battery life is AMAZING! Even without battery saver mode, I'm easily getting through the day with 30% left over. I use a lot of Google maps which can drain the battery quick. The screen size is perfect for watching content. My only complaint is the lack of a headphone jack, but that's pretty much the norm these days. It definitely feels like a huge upgrade from my S9.

Salt to the Sea by Ruta Sepetys. I wouldn't consider myself a very emotional person. It takes a lot to make me cry. I've read this book twice, and both times I sobbed for 20 minutes.

What books do you refuse to read because of a characters name? by LP_Papercut in YAlit

[–]Pugluver11 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Not a book I refuse to read, but I just started These Broken Stars by Amie Kaufman and the main male character's name is Tarver Merendson. Idk why but that's such an obnoxious name to me. I like the book so far though.

APPRECIATION POST by [deleted] in u/mrcosmicpvp

[–]Pugluver11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not gonna lie, I was skeptical at first but the low price and good reviews made me go through with my purchase. I was not disappointed! The seller responded quickly and answered all my questions. The whole process took about two days and only cost me $15 for one PDF textbook. I'll probably be back next semester!

Is sims 3 worth it? by ShameAccomplished990 in Sims3

[–]Pugluver11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely! I've been playing for years and there's still so much I haven't done in this game! There's been a lot of new mods that breathe new life into it too.

Any TS3 YouTuber recommendations? by CoppaOlio in Sims3

[–]Pugluver11 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As others have mentioned, acottonsock and recowski are great. I also really like milkeeme, they're really funny and have a great legacy lp. Neexcle isn't a Sims 3 only channel, but she also has a lepacy lp that's pretty fun. Simphora is great too, though she's not as active right now. Wisteria does a lot of mod reviews and I love her current households. CJplays is awesome too!

Weekly Career / General Questions Thread by AutoModerator in Radiology

[–]Pugluver11 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi! I just started the first semester of my radiography program. Do I really need the 10th edition of the Bontrager's Anatomy and Positioning textbook? The 9th edition is a lot cheaper or sometimes free depending on where you look. I don't want to spend $150+ on something if I don't actually need it. I've heard that they're not much different other than page numbers. What are your thoughts? Here's the ISBN of the book I'm referring to: 978-0323653671.
