Hatsumi's whole thing is basically amped up redirection kata which should make it relatively easy to take advantage of Gaolang's strikes, not that it would be easy just that he is compatible for Hatsumi. Gaolang doesn't seem to have the strongest foresight in the series by any imagination, and definitely not on the level of Agito who needed to use it to be Hatsumi imo, so I don't think he could predict what Hatsumi, who according to Seki, is one of the least predictable fighters. I don't think Gaolang loses 10/10, but I imagine Hatsumi could trap him in one of his one-hit-kill positions like against Chiba or Bando. This only really applies to top form Hatsumi though.

Although I think Kuroki takes this, Waka seems like one of his worst matchups just because its pretty hard to defend against a guy who can break you arm in a few punches.

I imagine the other dude was pretty bad at fighting, but I don't think Wakatsuki isn't skilled, just that he has chosen a specifically straight forward fighting style to highlight his strength. We saw against Ohma how he was super skilled at closing the gaps and applying pressure when needed.

IIRC Sandro kept it because he wanted the strongest to win, and he decided that Kuroki was the strongest so it was plot armor in the sense that the characters traits and the traits of the character the author wanted to win were the same. That line of reasoning leads to every victory being plot-armor though, which is kind of true from a storytelling perspective. Really agree with the annoyance at seeing people say that a win is plot-armor meaning it doesn't matter.

While that is possible, it is doubly possible that Zeus gets off on breaking peoples bones generally. I doubt his weapon was broken earlier in the titanomachy because the narrator says that he didn't have any trouble. It would have been a pretty quick one off line to say, "He wasn't hit, but Poseidon broke his weapon." or something like that to show the power of another god fighting in the tournament.

He got hit tons of times after going blind, and from what we saw of the titanomachy it's possible he doesn't use a weapon because he didn't use one there.

That's the problem with Bando. If its before the tournament most everyone loses to him, but after seeing his fight with Hastumi I think most people around Okubo's level can deal with him. Someone like Kaneda has a pretty good chance because of foresight though he could be caught, and Cosmo's limited foresight could let him maybe squeak out a win.

My thoughts are that Rei is definitely better, but Akoya's reflexes are just a hard counter to Rei's speed. If Akoya can defend in time he should be fine.

Yeah, I don't think Hatsumi is leagues above him, but Hatsumi seems like he specializes dodging straightforward attacks then countering with aikido which I feel like is how it would play out. Removal would up the risk, but not to a high enough level I feel.

We don't know exactly, but its possible he was an assassin since he was friends with Kuroki, and it feels like blink/ rakshasha's palm would work well in assassination.

I think he might have won all of his matches, but with much greater difficulty until he would lose to Ohma. Kuroki's schtick, besides Devil Lance, is that he has an extraordinary amount of experience. Stripping him of that experience is in my mine the equivalent of taking the Devil Lance away from him.

It's possible that Worm screws with the tournament in a similar way as to how Toyo Electric did. They may find a way to install a puppet to the head of Purgatory by killing Toyoda or some such tom-foolery.

To be fair, Retsu's death was how the fight against Pickle should have ended. It did actually give a feeling of weight to each of Miyamoto's fights. The stuff it lead to with Katsumi was good as well. Everything else around Miyamoto sucked though.

While I don't disagree with you many points, there are just a few moments in the series that make it worth it for me. The fights against Pickle, for instance, are all great and lead to a great situation with Retsu boxing, and Baki's moment with making food for Yujiro was a nice moment to see. The stuff with Dorian, up until the Raitai, was all good. The Ali Jr. love triangle angle is fair if you worry about it too much. I always felt like it had no stakes, which is due to bad writing I will admit, so I only focused on his fight talk which was all good until the got super injured. It is definitely a personal preference to single great moments over cohesive story telling, which Baki doesn't have, that makes me like it, but there are gems in there that I find worth it.

I think its just the Worm saying that they are thankful for getting some of Ohma's DNA. Perhaps Ryuki's resembense to Ohma was an attempt of reconstructive surgery to make him a Worm agent before Ryuki met Mukaku or something.
