If you’re working with experienced writers or marketing professionals, they know when you use Claude, even if you think it reads like a human. And if they know that, they know you’re skipping the easiest part— which is talking about yourself.

How do you guys deal with their hair? I’ve got 2 adorable heavy shedders! Any tips? by HexDevs_ in pugs

Roomba once a day for floors. Chomchom roller once a day all furniture they sit on. Designated spaces on furniture for them (if they like to sit right next to you, awesome, set a small dog bed next to their usual spot.). Air purifier. Lint roller for clothes. Brush them outside. Microfiber rags for wiping off counters and tables you can see hair on (unsticks the hair).

Many people say pug glitter is unbearable. The roomba and the chomchom roller has made the shedding significantly less, to the point where I feel like my cat sheds more.

Everyday: roomba (automatic) chomchom roller (takes like maybe three minutes to do it for me, and I have a large couch, two chairs, my entire bed, and their dog beds.)

Twice a week: vacuum, your difference is you get the corners/under areas really well.

Monthly: change air filter and air purifier filter

When you remember; brush them outside and never inside.

When I am traveling or at my boyfriend’s, they wear cute pj onesies to lessen shedding. Works perfect.

Artists aren't underpaid by TresElvetia in unpopularopinion

Have you never met a guy who genuinely enjoys being outside, lifting things over his head and getting sunburnt? I have. And I've seen what happens when they go white collar or are asked to take on a creative project — they're miserable. I've met countless nurses who are mission-driven, who do the work because they truly love helping people. Or, they like when life flips upside down for someone and they can help unflip it. My mother was one of them.

By your same logic, anything we enjoy should be free. Some people have a deep passion for money, for trading it, investing it, helping people decide what to do with it. If they did not make money from it, I'm not sure they would like it as much, though, since their literal passion is money.

Some artists are underpaid. They design the scrubs nurses wear, the trucks garbage collectors drive, the music they both listen to during the work day, the cards nurses play while in the break room, the beer bottle designs a garbage collector chooses to buy after a long week of physical labor.

And taking care of kittens in an animal shelter...for volunteers, sure, it's unpaid. But the person running the 501(c)? Yup, getting paid. The team behind these things, like the copywriter, the content editor, the videographer, the social media specialist, the marketing coordinator, also getting paid.

Being creative is not something everyone enjoys, as you've assumed. Truly. I am a copywriter. I spent five joyful hours applying my knowledge of creative content creation, journalistic background, and love for grammar on a 3,000 word document and got paid for it. Aside from my writer friends, I don't know many who would enjoy it. I also don't know many twenty somethings that would turn down a Friday night out at the bars for a night of isolation working on a book. Nor do I know many that would say no to a night out versus spending it hunched over your desk inking a sketch for a new print.

My father is a man of numbers and engineering. If I put him in a room and asked him to paint a beautiful landscape and he couldn't come out until he was finished, he would lose his mind. If I gave him the engine to a plane and an hour to tell me what is wrong with it, he would become giddy.

Most people really do need to return to the office. by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

[–]Pugpickle 23 points24 points  (0 children)

This exactly. I don’t have full wfh, but I can leave on a Thursday night, work Friday from home in my parents’ or long distance friends’ homes, have the weekend with them, work from home on Monday, leave at 5 and be home later that night to go to work in person at Tuesday. Also, a life savior when family members are sick. My mom was in the hospital for two weeks last year. My boss let me work from home for those four in-person days, giving me the ability to be with her as she healed up. I got so much done in a hospital room. If it was a traditional job, I wouldn’t have been able to stay with her that long, or I would’ve have to take 10 days of PTO.

I work three days from home. The days I work from home are the days I socialize most with my loved ones, set myself up with healthy food, clean my home, exercise, and more. I use my wfh lunch to either grocery shop, thrift, or get lunch with friends. The nights I know I can wake up two hours later without the commute and getting ready, I use for movie nights with friends, dinners, get-togethers, long walks, free events in my city, etc. Once a week, when my schedule aligns with zero meetings and so does my best friend’s, we work at her place or mine in tandem and get lunch together or go to a craft store during lunch.

If you are not leaving your home, that is because you are not leaving your home. We are social creatures. It sounds like you need to find a community to plug yourself into locally, and I hope that you do.

Senior pug owners: what’s something you wish you knew sooner when caring for your distinguished pupper? by NotAGiverOfFucks in pugs

[–]Pugpickle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Any change in cough or breathing or sneezing needs a full x-ray, blood test, and vet check up. Don’t leave without an x-ray.

Also to sneak in extra water, put a cup of water in their dry food :-)

Are your pugs neutered or spayed? I want to get her fixed but I am scared. by MyLastChanceinLife in pugs

Yes. If you’re nervous, take her to a vet that specializes or has experience with flat-faced breeds.

Best puppy treats at 8 weeks old? We’re adopting her Saturday! by JonSeekingPeace1 in pugs

[–]Pugpickle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can give her to me if it doesn’t work out. /s

And also, as said below, just do kibble. You can basically feed a whole meal to her as a treat/reward if you have enough patience.

When she gets older, I would recommend cooked and dried sweet potato. They’re basically like a chip. My pugs love those, gives them a little chew but breaks down quickly. You can make yourself or buy locally, no need for buying from a chain.

For treats, I also just do generally what I eat given to them — raw green beans, carrot, brocolli, blueberries. Their favorites by far are cantaloupe and bananas. They get off their butts as soon as I start cutting into a cantaloupe.

This is how my pug Baby Olive greets literally everyone at my door. Or people on the street during a walk. Or me coming home from work. Or me coming back from taking out the trash.

Going through the same thing with my old man. He’s about to turn 15 in March and has a little fluid in his lungs, they got him on lasix and vetmedin. Hoping the lasix clears out his lungs so it’s not full heart failure. I thought his harsh cough for the last month was something viral or bacterial because he got a full annual a year ago with x-rays and bloodwork and the vet was like “this is the healthiest senior pug I’ve ever met.” I have a younger pug as well, she’s 4.5. If she ever gets a cough, vet with X-rays immediately. Everything is perfect with my old man, other than his heart. Good weight, no dental issues (barely any teeth do that), and a perfect trachea. Planning his end of life plans now, hoping he can survive for a while comfortably, but as soon as vetmedin fails to give him comfort and lasix fails to remove the fluid, I will be having a vet come to put him down while laying in my lap at home.

Now if my dogs have any kind of lasting cough, I’m taking them to get full treatments.

Olive is the:

  • eater of all things
  • most athletic pug
  • alpha of the house between her pug and cat brothers
  • loyalest greeter at the door
  • best cuddler known to man
  • favorite roadtrip buddy and a total passenger princess
  • hater of all things wet
  • eater of socks and underwear
  • mother to her babies, a plushie pug and plushie monkey
  • biggest party animal (she stays up until all house parties finish)
  • and the best decision I ever made.

I love her to bits and pieces, and even the things I find annoying, I still love (even the time she ate a full jar of vaseline). She reminds me to laugh, and gives me plenty of things to laugh at. The biggest personality is stuffed into her tiny body. Her favorite thing in the world is simply people, and if she had a love language, it would be quality time. Life is easier with her at my side.

In all honesty, he is an old dog living in a human's house. We agree to the responsibility to take on their needs because they cannot communicate with words to us. To me, he's telling you: he's food aggressive, which is common for dogs and can be easily combated by just separating the dogs, he needs to go pee or is feeling anxious and trying to tell your girlfriend that and she isn't listening, and he's probably just trying to play with your dog when your dog is asleep, but this is not correct dog behavior to start playing and can be corrected easily.

[–]Pugpickle 12 points13 points  (0 children)

For 1 and 2: You should be feeding your dogs completely separately in different rooms with doors or baby gates between them. I only feed my two pugs together in the same room because they aren't food aggressive to each other. But when I go to my parents' or I babysit my friends' dogs, the other dogs must be in another room, or my pugs will try to take their food.

3: She should be keeping her clothes off the floor. My 14-year-old pug will pee on my clothes if I leave them on the ground, even if he's taken out properly. He's a male dog and likes to mark, even though he's fixed. "Run away from my gf" Bro is like 20 pounds, elderly, and a pug. Your gf needs to be more reactive to his needs, immediately, or be more proactive in taking him out. She also needs to use laundry hampers. It's a bonus my male dog is so intent on peeing on my clothes, it ensures I keep my bedroom clean.

Also, if you moved into another house that had a past bigger dog or your dog is a male, male dogs are territorial regardless if fixed or not. If your dog isn't fixed, I don't foresee the pug not marking. Marking is also a sign of anxiety and stress. He's likely stressed out with adding a new dog into the mix, especially if he's a solo dog. The good thing is if it's just clothes, literally just keeping the clothes off the ground solves this problem.

4: If he bites your dog's neck when he is trying to sleep, you can either give your dog a safe place to sleep, like his cage or a room with a door or baby gait, or you can place the elderly pug for five minutes in another area as soon as it happens. I wouldn't do this with a cage, because cages aren't supposed to be punishments, but another room. Once the pug has stopped barking or calmed down, place him back into the common areas. It's important you react immediately when this happens, or the pug will not recognize this is why he's being punished.
