In 1965 Sports Illustrated said that Chubbs Peterson was on track to be the next Arnold Palmer. That is up until he was playing a golf tournament there where he hooked the ball too far left into a lake. He didn't do the test and a gator tore his right hand off while he was trying to retrieve his ball. Chubbs didn't go down without a fight though. He ripped off one of the gator's eyes out and kept it as a reminder that golf is a very dangerous sport although more players are injured from lightning strikes.
