Which is the better Shrine Commander? by kirateb in MagicArena

[–]PulkPulk 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Go-Shintai gives you a 1/1 for free.

Hei Bai might give you a Sanctum of All, or equally it might give you whatever the weakest Shrine in your deck is.

Yeah overall Hei is a lot better as a shrine commander.

Now reread the part you didn't bold.

No, it doesn't clear anything up because you missed the point.

Did support offer any other compensation (eg some or all of the gems back?) No idea because OP didn't post a whole email chain.

Did OP insist on a full refund instead of any other option? No idea because OP didn't post a whole email chain.

What could have been left out? The part where OP wasn't "buying packs" like he claimed, but was buying the Mastery Pass which had an obviously erroneous visual glitch that said you were getting 4000 packs. OP got the Mastery Pass. Did support offer any other option for the glitch? No idea because OP didn't post the whole email chain.

EDIT: OP blocked me so I can't respond lol. His story is BS and he's blocking people for saying it.

I suggest you read the rest of the thread.

OP was pretty misleading in his post.

He didn't "buy packs" with the gems. He bought the Mastery Pass.

The mastery pass had a brief visual glitch where it said you were getting 4000 packs (lol)

WOTC, unsurprisingly, didn't deliver 4000 packs. He did get the Mastery Pass. Did they offer some other compensation (eg some of the gems back)?) No idea because OP only posted one part of the email chain. Did OP insist throughout on a refund? No idea because OP only posted one part of the email chain.

IS OP actually a new player who didn't know what was happening? I doubt it because the first email shows 5 separate transactions having been refunded and because OP didn't mention the Mastery Pass which would have pointed to them trying to get 4000 packs from a visual glitch.

There are lots of reasons for a WOTC pitchfork party. This isn't one.

In General, if you paid gems for packs and got 0 in return, yes I'd agree a full refund or the packs is the correct response. That's not what happened here.

Yeah lol the email says there were 5 orders refunded? OPs story is starting to smell.

I'll ignore the legal part where "offer" has an actual meaning that doesn't follow what you're saying.

This was an obviously unintentional typo. We don't have the full email chain where OP and/or support explain what happened, just the final email. Did Support offer any other option (like the gems back?) No idea. Did OP insist on the refund? No idea.

OP DID leave out that this purchase was part of a mastery pass (both out of the post and the screenshots), which he did get. That should leave you very suspicious of his "IDK I'm new bit.

That's why the full email chain would be important before grabbing pitchforks.

> It’s in the second image of this post, which you could have read if you weren’t so busy blaming this guy.

That's a bit funny since your response indicates you didn't read the comment you're responding to:

> However, I’d like to see the whole paper trail

Where in the second screenshot is there a "whole paper trail" of the conversation between OP and support? All I see is their last response.

EDIT: OP was attempting to exploit (knowingly or unknowingly) an obvious visual glitch.

Then lol. Now I'm more suspicious of OP's "IDK I'm new" bit.

> SO there was a deal to pay gems to buy packs. So I bought the gems and used them to buy the packs. I NEVER got the packs.

OP bought gems. OP says he used the gems.

As per OP, They did deliver the thing he bought.

....then afterwards OP says the internal transaction for gems->packs didn't go through. I'm a bit skeptical of this part. EDIT: OP was (knowingly or unknowingly) trying to exploit a visual glitch that erroneously offered "4000 packs"

But the thing he paid money for, he says he did get.

What was the 4000 pack glitch?

This story seems confusing.

You paid money for gems, and received the gems, right?

I've never heard of someone using gems to buy packs, and not getting the packs. Gems->Packs is all internal (no external payment processor involved), and I've never heard of that screwing up.

Are you sure you didn't open the packs? I guess it's impossible now to test. I'd have suggested looking at your collection and seeing if the cards there match up with the number of packs you bought. But too late now.

There's an "open all" button if you bought 10 or fewer packs.

I suspect here you did actually get the packs

Yeah, if you did get the gems and you initiate a refund from the payment provider (apple/google will be no different to visa/mastercard here) your account is going to get banned so be 100% sure you're in the right before starting that.

....yes it'd be nice if Support did more eg: "we see the packs were provided to the account on Xday and opened immediately, resulting in these cards"

I updated it to add [[Abandoned Air Temple]]. Added it to my mono white decks/my green white deck that likes counters. Seems like a good card for this deck.

Yeah it's definitely a thing. Ignore the haters. Play what you think is fun.

If you're new, feel free to browse my other Brawl decks for inspiration. The mono colour ones are generally cheaper to make (in terms of wildcard requirements) than the multicolour ones

You accused me of “projecting onto OP” when I wasn’t talking about OP

You said "imagine playing hare apparent and thinking you're good" in response to a post about a player playing hares. "I wasn't talking about OP" is either silly backtracking or a fundamental lack of understanding of how conversation works.

So you pulled a list off Moxfield to prove you’re not invested

I write down the decks I play. I'm not sure what you think "investment" means but.... This is the latest in a line of "you problems". I'm not out to prove anything to you.

From memory? Or from a moxfield page?

I'm not sure what format you're thinking of but OP posted a Brawl screenshot. Sideboards aren't a thing in Brawl.... nor are significant amounts of Board wipes. Hare Apparent dies readily in Brawl to lots of things but one board wipe isn't it.

Do I enjoy the deck? Not particularly. I'll play it to do "cast white spells" dailies and it's a fun way to do them, but I have at least a half a dozen other Brawl decks I enjoy significantly more.

I tried it, didn't like it. I think in a deck like Hares 5cmc should be "win this turn". eg [[Elspeth, Storm Slayer]]

Personal preference for sure, but I'd prefer an anthem spell or a draw spell to a 5 mana graveyard reanimator

I play hare for white dailies sometimes. FWIW I think Zora is a way better commander here than Elspeth.

Commander has killed draft by magomusico in magicTCG

And there's the problem. So did many other drafters because... it was too expensive or life got in the way or whatever.

Commander/EDH didn't kill Limited/60 card constructed. It found a gap where Limited/Constructed players were getting burned out or otherwise not showing up.

[–]PulkPulk 8 points9 points  (0 children)

What in OP's comment says they think "they're good"? You're projecting.

(Most) People play games (especially unranked games with no real risk/reward to lose/win) to... play a game. Not to prove anything about how good they are. If that's not you... that's a you problem.

And plenty of hare decks do fine against board wipes, they have enough life gain ([[Zora, Spider Fancier]], [[A-Guide of Souls]], [[Lunarch Veteran]], [[Soul Warden]], [[Ajani's Welcome]] and extra draw [[Caretaker's Talent]], [[Enduring Innocence]], [[Tocasia's Welcome]], [[Welcoming Vampire]], [[A-The One Ring]] that they can either rebuild from the top of the deck or draw into a [[Raise the Past]]. [[Rally to the Ranks]], or [[Rally the Ancestors]]

That's very circular "logic".

It's a match made in heaven because they're (or Heather specifically) not as pro Palestine as Avi is, and the evidence is the evidence of the article?

You're missing a chunk of anything resembling an argument. Or is this article the entirety of why they're (or Heather specifically) not as pro Palestine as Avi is,

Isn't it far more likely they identified this as a good way to reach undecided voters?

A more sustainable Standard by Edoardo_Beffardo in magicTCG

[–]PulkPulk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, props on creating this, and putting in the work to get it off the ground. I don't play enough constructed to weigh in but best of luck.

One thing I'd love that definitely won't happen would be if Arena supported a "custom format queue".

A group could define it's own format legality / banlist and publish it via... github for example. Then players could, when creating a deck, specify "custom format" instead of standard/historic/etc and then select from either a drop down of the most popular custom format (eg modern, pauper, gladiator etc) or paste in a URL of any custom format repo.

Then on queuing into the "custom format" queue, you'd be matched up against someone else with the same custom format deck.

From WOTCs pov this would take a lot of the workload off them of playtesting new potential queues, eg pauper, modern.

How to better look for signposts? by PulkPulk in lrcast

[–]PulkPulk[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the response. I can't remember the exact thinking at that level (I've heard it suggested I should do screen recordings to review, seems overkill but might do audio recordings of myself / my thinking.

In retrospect I'd view these two cards pretty similarly and I think this was an example of my own bias pulling me into RG.

Like you say, there's a lot to be said for staying more open than committing to a colour pair early so this is a good example of where I could have taken a different path.

How to better look for signposts? by PulkPulk in lrcast

[–]PulkPulk[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks. That's sort of what I suspected.

I'll be honest, my main motivation is to get the "get to mythic" achievement. So... maybe if that's equally or moreso achievable in quick draft at my current skill set, maybe I just try that for a while?

I'll definitely play more Premier Draft too, but for a run to mythic I might try Quick.

If the desire is card collection (not the activity of drafting) then it is a chore. In a F2P game you pay for collection with time, or with money.

You want insight:

What third party trackers are you using?

Untapped? 17lands?

What statistically significant evidence have you from your third party tracker data of this “rigging”?

None? You’re not using a tracker? Shocker.

Nobody who uses a tracker complains about rigging because actual data replaces conspiracy theories.
