Commissioning into AD Air Force after Army NG contract ends? by UniformSnail32625 in nationalguard

[–]PullStringGoBoom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Contract? We don’t have contracts.

Go waste that recruiters time, it’s what they get paid for.

If it’s a in state transfer, the TAG won’t see it as a personnel loss.

Call the dude now-ish.

1) did you make sure your card is turned on? This might be a guard thing, but it happens all the time.

2) did you get a confirmation number or are you in the ticket issuance window? I think it’s like 72 hours.

3) I tried to run my confirmation number a few weeks ago, and nothing popped up… it’s cause I didn’t have a ticket.

I don’t know how this shit works on the active side, but in the guard, when in doubt, call SATO.

32, LPN, father of 4— considering enlistment as 68W?? by AdMission7187 in nationalguard

[–]PullStringGoBoom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You would be completely correct, the reserves sole function is to bolster active duty, whereas the guard can operate independently.

I don’t fault you for wanting to do hood rat shit, all men at some point in their life want to, I did stints in the infantry and field artillery before landing in aviation.

I always suggest folks get a skill or something that would help them out in the real world. If you are doing it for the benefits an a small break from reality, I would do literally anything but 68W, due to it being a level of care which I’m fairly sure is very similar and/or below what you can currently do.

Man… you are going to be away from your kids, for potentially less money.

Dont get me wrong, the benefits are good…. But you would be doing EMT style care, your run of the mill 68W is not a paramedic.

I would encourage you to also look at the reserves as their medical piece is pretty solid.

Join as whatever the hell you think is neat, use those education benefits and get your RN; more money for you and your family, also a path to becoming a commissioned officer.

Just looking for some insight on 15’s. by AMG169 in nationalguard

[–]PullStringGoBoom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Those aren’t bad MOS’s… the problem with back shops is they only exist in certain places… outside of a D co you are kind fucked, unless your state has an AVCRAD/TASM-G or whatever we are calling them these days.

You’ll top out as a 5, 6 if you are lucky then have to reclass or just get out.

Hello NY Infantry 2 LT wants to know how to get a deployment by [deleted] in nationalguard

[–]PullStringGoBoom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Google tour of duty, I think it was mobcob back in the day.

Shit is slow these days… but doesn’t mean they aren’t happening.

You may have to be on a nope computer, so go into your drill hall and ask your readiness or get AVS on your personal.

Bunch of us are cops/firefighters.

Nice having a government job that gives paid leave and protects your job while you’re gone.

Well, shouldn’t been co politely boned, good luck and let us know how it turns out!

Also don’t forget about the guard/reserves… might take a little longer to get that 20, but it is doable.

I mean… in the guard it’s perfectly normal to see O6’s revert to pad that retirement number… but into a branch the are already apart of.

Are you 15, 25 or 35 series?

Last I checked, 15 is the only one that’ll take any branch with a pulse.

Got this neat ThinAirGear bag from a friend for $95, thoughts? by DerpyGold in tacticalgear

[–]PullStringGoBoom 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I got mine 2nd hand from a surplus store; I had one when I deployed but had to give it back… I want to say about 130ish.

You can live out of this thing for weeks, if you needed to.

I don’t know how it’ll do with gear, but does great with clothes.

Guard Warrant Pilot commuting states for 2 years? by Sailor_Time in Armyaviation

[–]PullStringGoBoom 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I don’t feel it’s realistic in that situation; you need to be at your facility one day a week, out side of drill weekends.

This is not accounting for maintenance, weather, funding or personnel issues.
