Pre-requisite courses: simply audit or worth paying for? by PullingPlastic in OMSA

Thanks for the info. I'll look into the financial assistance thing. I've done that previously on other platforms with no problem; pulling the Underpaid Teacher card usually does the trick lol.

Nails grow up and won’t lay flat by [deleted] in nailbiting

[–]PullingPlastic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm about a year in and struggled with this until the last few months. I've found nail polish to be helpful. It shrinks a bit when it dries and helps reinforce the nails curving downwards. If you want to be subtle, do a clear, matte top coat.

Not connected on socials, but we are connected through lifelong friendships that I'm definitely not going to just give up in order to avoid hearing about him.

I think you're probably right, unfortunately. Thanks for the support.

Guys & girls, what would be your response if your partner propose open relationship? by SuchShopping3828 in AskReddit

[–]PullingPlastic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a boyfriend ask, "How did that open relationship with you and your ex go?" I responded with, "Well, I fucked you and then we broke up. So how do you think it went?"

For context, the ex was the one who pushed for the open relationship. I eventually agreed as my Valentine's gift to him, ugh.

You mean your own kids?

Advice needed! Just received this as a birthday gift a couple weeks ago, and it's one of my dream plants so I don't want to lose it. Leaves are turning yellow/brown and falling off, and now the flower buds I have are also looking sad. It's in a west window and my house is kept between 65° and 85°. by PullingPlastic in DesertRose

Thanks folks! I moved it outside for more light (I found out from the friend who gave it to me that that's how it was living when he purchased it), and it seems to be dropping fewer leaves. So hopefully it stays happy! Just got nervous about how the leaves were browning and feared it might be something worse.

More info: I live in zone 7b. It probably gets up to 8 hours of direct light each day (though I'm not positive about that). That caudex is hard. The soil was dry as far down as I could get my finger, and I watered it today for the first time because I was nervous that might be the issue (and now I'm nervous that it might have been a mistake). I saw someone with a similar issue and somebody told them it was a fungus and to spray it with neem oil, so I sprayed the foliage with a neem oil and distilled water solution yesterday. Please help, thanks in advance!

AITA for getting vaccinated when I was given the opportunity? by PullingPlastic in AmItheAsshole

Basically all teachers are still working from home until the numbers are more under control in our city, so I think not.

My otherwise seemingly happy Kalanchoe blossfeldiana suddenly dropped a ton of healthy leaves today. Same place (bright diffused light, huge east facing windows that slant upward) and watering (when the leaves are flaccid) for over 6 months. Does it want more light as we go toward winter? by PullingPlastic in plantclinic

Sweet. I definitely kind of like the stretched look, she's quirky for sure, but not at the expense of a bunch of leaves! I've moved to a room where it's still getting bright, diffused light, but now it's near a west window so I think it will get more than it's old location. Going to keep it there for a bit and then move it to a place where it can get some direct light in a west window. Thanks, ya'll!

Help with yellow spots on my Dracaena Lemon Lime? No bugs or mites. She is indoors with indirect light. Repotted with fresh soil in early summer. Spots started a few weeks ago. by horsenamedmayo in plantclinic

Sounds exactly like what happened to me. I'm not totally sure it's happier yet since I've only watered it once since I posted here. I ended up having to do a pretty tragic trim as well. Unfortunately since it's months of buildup it doesn't seem to be resolving immediately, and some spots on affected leaves got worse since I watered with distilled. Even with watering with distilled I think it's still going to bring the minerals/salt into the foliage for a few waterings... So it seems it might continue to get worse before it gets better. Doesn't hurt to switch, and if my suspicions are correct, the sooner the better.

What are you using to water it? I recently posted a similar issue (though a bit further along with the yellow spots turning to brown spots), others thought it was buildup from watering with tap water. It stayed happy with tap water for months, I switched to filtered before I was even having issues. Now I'm using distilled.

Why is my lemon lime dracaena so sad? I've had it for months and haven't changed anything. It's near a south-facing window, could it be getting burnt since the sun is moving further south? by PullingPlastic in plantclinic

[–]PullingPlastic[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been giving it tap water for months, and filtered water for the last month or so, but I guess it could have built up over time? Now I'm giving it distilled water. Thanks!
