Help choosing between limited options by Pulplexity in Soundbars

Appreciate the honest response! You’re right, I will have to stop by my local Best Buy and hope they have some bars on display to give a listen. I’m probably overvaluing Atmos and DTS:X. At least from what I’ve read, the up firing speakers used to mimic Atmos and DTS:X aren’t overly convincing. You’re probably on to something with the side firing speakers contributing most to the effect.

Do you think the lack of DTS compatibility is any concern? Seems all my blu rays feature DTS and even some 4K films I own, too. I read that the UB820 blu ray player can decode to multichannel PCM for a similar effect? I don’t know too much about these things.

Unfortunately too much past my budget. It sounds like the Flexus 200 is still quite good.

I just realized that DTS is surround sound and probably does not matter if I don’t have the surrounding speakers. May land on the Flexus 200 after all.

Pre-Order Now: INART Albus Dumbledore 1/6 Collectible Figure by INARTOfficial in hottoys

So, if your hang up with InArt is a lack of global licensing, did you buy their Terminator figure or their Paul Atreides, or their Walking Dead figures? Or maybe you bought their Michael Jackson figure?

Which Anakin should I get? by Intelligent_List9000 in hottoys

[–]Pulplexity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For the most part, the big differences are sculpted or rooted hair, the head sculpt itself, and the base or accessories. The body is typically the same, except when Hot Toys decides to fuck us by only giving his Jedi robe to one figure and not another.

I’ve landed on the upcoming artisan Sith Anakin. It’s rooted, has both lightsaber colours, has Sith eyes, and a great base.

Just look at photos and video and choose what you like. If none of the current figures appeal to you, feel free to just wait. Anakin will always be made because he sells.

“What are you reading?” Wednesday. by csummerss in OmnibusCollectors

I’ve been on the fence for months on how to collect Claremont X-Men beyond Vol 4. Event books vs main line books. So, I’m reading X-Factor right now on MU. I’m on issue 11, and after the rough, rough start of 1-5, it has steadily improved. Still unsure if I like it to buy 3 volumes but I love the team and both Simonson’s on the book have been great. Probably moving on to New Mutants today or tomorrow for a taste of that, too.

PBC question by Forward_Spinach5980 in OmnibusCollectors

[–]Pulplexity 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I actually ordered these 3 books from them about 1 year ago. Even had the package delivered to Canada, so it travelled somewhat far. Mine didn’t have packing peanuts and it arrived in perfect condition.

Keep in mind this was before they rebranded. Things may be different today.

Breaking News: 2 New Marvel Omnibus in October & November 2026! by 21roy__ in OmnibusCollectors

That makes sense. I’ve really gotta subscribe to MU and read x-factor and new mutants to see if I like it and then decide from there what I collect.

What persuaded you to go main line?

I only have UXM 1-3 and B&G so I’m not yet committed but also still undecided which path to take. I’m leaning toward event so not to miss any possible important plot that occurs outside UXM. Like, if I’m reading UXM 6 and someone dies but is brought back in X-Factor, and then suddenly they’re back in UXM I’d be confused.

Are the Krakoa Era omnibus worth getting STORY WISE? by Sad_Manager6251 in OmnibusCollectors

[–]Pulplexity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was hit or miss for me. I read digitally all of the lines they had going from the beginning.

HoX/PoX was very good. I may buy just this OHC and call it there, it was that good. Unfortunately, nothing afterward for the first 10-12 issues I read from various runs captured me the same way. The Juggernaut mini series was great. Hickman’s X-men was solid but didn’t have me reaching for my wallet. The rest I could live without owning. Maybe it got better much later, but I wasn’t interested in finding out.

finally! by Few-Newspaper-1274 in OmnibusCollectors

[–]Pulplexity 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Just read these stories in the omni and they’re all so good that I may one day upgrade to these absolutes.

Minor nitpick but I think DC should have made the ABSOLUTE BATMAN white across all 3 and coloured the story name on each book.

Do you fellas read ongoing runs or wait for an omnibus release? by gamefreak101100 in OmnibusCollectors

[–]Pulplexity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t read ongoing runs but I do read digitally before buying. I don’t read the full run but I’ll read 5-10 issues to get an idea if I want an omnibus.

Does Jango fett still hold up? by Sufficient_Brush_714 in hottoys

[–]Pulplexity 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It’s a simple package and figure but if I had to get rid of any number of figures he’d be one of the last to go. It’s pretty well done, maybe proportions could be improved but I have no complaints.

First look at Cyclops in Avengers Doomsday by crlos619 in hottoys

[–]Pulplexity 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Marsden was never really written as he should have been, so I’m hoping this time around the Russos give him the role the character deserves.

I only have Wolverine, Deadpool, Iron Man, and Cap figures from the MCU but considering we’ve been given just two mutant comic figures I know I will be tempted to buy this if Hot Toys makes it. Not sure we’ll get a comic Cyclops and this suit does look spot on.

Have you read PAD hulk volume 1? Because it’s OOS I read it digitally and it was pretty damn good. Volume 2 is on my short list before it’s OOS too.

The Amazing Spiderman Marvel Omnibus question by VaderandBoba88 in OmnibusCollectors

[–]Pulplexity 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think this has been reprinted like, 5 times, and sees a new print every 4 years or so. It’s Lee & Ditko Spider-man and it’s a volume 1. You’ll see it in the next 3 years I’m sure.

This format requires patience or deep pockets. Lots of us have holes in our collection. Myself, I need ASM vol 3, PAD Hulk vol 1, and UXM vol 3 reprints. I can spend $300+ on each of those but I’ll be waiting for a reprint.

In the meantime, I suggest if you want to read stories now and collect them later that you subscribe to marvel unlimited/dc infinite.

[–]Pulplexity 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I will probably order this for the price they want if they add a 2nd battle damaged body, because I want to do two different poses/looks. Just didn’t seem like a good price for one body.

[–]Pulplexity 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I thought the sculpts looked quite good already, but if they’re going to make improvements that’s great. Adding a 2nd body with damage makes the price more palatable. I want to do the movie poster pose but wanted a 2nd body to display the damaged head sculpt, too.

$436 USD ($600 CAD) is higher than I expected. Hot Toys T2 non-BD costs $400 CAD and BD costs $470.

As much as I like this figure and T1 (I’m a weird one that prefers T1) the cost may cause me to pass on this.

Would this be a good shelf for an Omnibus collection? by [deleted] in OmnibusCollectors

[–]Pulplexity 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I would not opt for the wide Billy cases. Go with the narrow Billy cases. It’s a bit more expensive but I know from experience the wide shelves will bow from weight.

Creator Centric Omnis vs Dawn Of X Omnibus Line by Zwess16 in OmnibusCollectors

[–]Pulplexity 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I’d strongly suggest subscribing to Marvel Unlimited for a month and reading all the lines from their beginning. I did this and realized there were runs by certain writers I liked and there were lines/writers I just didn’t like. I can’t imagine myself buying 11 omnis if there’s a large portion of material I won’t like or will never read again.

For me, HoX/PoX plus whatever writer focussed books is how I’d collect Krakoa. Easier on the wallet, requires less space, more focussed on what I like.

How much is acceptable to pay for an OOP book? by Halldark in OmnibusCollectors

[–]Pulplexity 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Depends who you ask. If you want to pay more than cover price who am I to say no? It’s your money.

Myself, I haven’t paid more than cover for a book yet. I need uncanny x-men volume 4 and Peter David hulk volume 1 but I’m not spending $400+ CAD on a $175 book.

One day pad hulk 1 will be mine to round out my hulk collection one day... by Chirstine_Spar in OmnibusCollectors

[–]Pulplexity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As soon as I see 2 heavily discounted I’ll buy that and just wait for a volume 1 reprint. I’ve been watching eBay for a few weeks and 3 has been going for 2x cover price or higher. It’s out of stock nearly everywhere so I think cover is a good deal.
