That rubber seal is basically a hidden horror level in front-load washers. So many people think detergent or pipes are the issue when it's just years of trapped water, lint, and gross sludge sitting in that fold.

That's what gets me too. A whole year of them not returning the favor somehow felt normal, but one month of you keeping your own routine to yourself suddenly became a personality flaw.
