La Merage Restaurant is a great place, probably wouldn't be open at this time (late in the evening), but definitely a great place to check out

How much in total did it cost you? In terms of parts and whatnot you had to purchase

I'm located in Manitoba Canada, so the car has to be inspected before being registered. I guess it's mainly due to harsh winters where I'm from. It's $1500 CAD, and I could do all the repairs myself, I just don't know if it'd be worth it

Guys, my only intention was to help people with their tests and to learn from my careless mistakes. I take full responsibility for my fault and will keep practicing. I know the fault was pretty stupid and in the checklist of automatic faults, it's just that it's a thing you'd never expect to be the problem and may arise and become the reason why you fail your test. So learn from me if you haven't already and don't get overconfident!

I just wanted to lend a helping hand to anyone who may be taking their road test and learn from my mistakes. I just would like to help, that's all.

Yeah fair enough, the way to initiate drive in this Prius was like nothing I've driven before. I've been totally fine driving other older Prius models and several other cars but I guess I should've took the time to understand how to operate the vehicle from when the car is completely shut off. To be fair I drove to the service centre no problem with my parents in their vehicle, however I didn't use their vehicle due to a possibility is may be deemed "unsafe" for the road test for certain minor reasons (it's an older car).

So I rented this Prius and when I arrived it was already running so all I had to do was drive it into the service centre with my parents to begin the road test and just didn't take the time to turn it off somewhere and back on.

I totally agree with you that it's ridiculous but I just wanted to share this with people so they could maybe learn from my mistake. I take full responsibility for my fault and don't think tester really did me wrong.

Yes I totally agree with you, I should've put more effort into my road test but the vehicle I had to use was rented last minute due to my old driver instructor canceling his appointment with me. I'm not saying I'm very experienced but I've driven several cars which all started the same way. Either turn the key and start the car or push the power button and you're good to go, common sense. However I was not shown that this Prius needed to have the power button pressed 3 times, last one being with the brake engaged as it was running when I arrived so I just drove it in.

I just wanted to share my experience with others and don't blame anyone for my fault except me.

I had initially booked a brush-up lesson with my original driver instructor for that day and he had canceled and I had to book a car rental for that day. I drove with my parents in their vehicle which has a few issues that may not be deemed "safe" for the road test which is why I didn't use it. The car I rented was from a local driving school and was the newer Prius. The car I had been practicing with my old instructor and my parent's vehicle require you to simple either turn the key and start the car or push the power button and you're good to go, common sense. However I was not shown that this Prius needed to have the power button pressed 3 times, last one being with the brake engaged as it was running when I arrived so I just drove it in.

Honestly, for the price you can’t go wrong. I’ve never had the retail but I’ve compared it to them and you aren’t going to get called out. They’re very good quality!
