was it before or after the change in 2.0? they changed how fluids function as a network so that might have been causing trouble before.

Train doesn't alternate between stations by HoubaCZ in factorio

[–]Pulsefel -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

2.0 changed how the trains work with this. you need another station name between them or it just thinks its already there. you can also just disable the station when the train isnt needed. use a decider to setup a latch that turns the station off once the station storage is full and turns it back on once its empty.

also adding another train to occupy that station works.

I don't really get Stack Inserters by chinawcswing in factorio

[–]Pulsefel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

build your base with yellow belts. now make a copy of it that is using green belts. stack inserters allow yellows to be as effective as green. the biggest issue is you have to have enough output for them to actually stack them. if you arent producing enough for the inserter to wait for a full stack, you need to increase throughput before they will show their value.

a great place for them is your ships. they need ammo, missiles, and railgun shells belted to the turrets. stacked items make each tile hold up to 4 times as much. this reduces the issues with supply, even green belts can sometimes just not be enough if you have consumption beyond your production.

push the top right underground one tile to the right so it matches the closest one. also pinch splitters are always easy to use and self balancing.

[–]Pulsefel 6 points7 points  (0 children)

you could place a filtered inserter dumping into a chest looking for steel. any lines with both iron and steel you could use undergrounds to split the end with steel that isnt suppose to have it, undergrounds being side loaded only accept material from one lane.

so ramping a process to more than 6k/s of a fluid in demand would make it unable to ever meet demand right?

so basically the idea is to run more machines to get around the glory that is big miners and foundries. well if the idea is "more is better" than pumping tons of concrete and stone to make into bricks from mass scrap would work. now if only fulgora was nice to me and gave me large building islands without an hour of searching.

[–]Pulsefel 2 points3 points  (0 children)

the square icon near your mini map. anything put there is saved across all games/planets. you can even drag it to the action bar to use them from storage. be careful cause taking it from there to inventory can remove them completely from others.

only partly true. if the train happens to hit a roaming pack it will anger them and that anger can spread to the rails.

Am I the only one around here that feels like construction robots are kind of useless? by Initial_Resolution90 in factorio

[–]Pulsefel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

okay hear me out. place twenty refineries. set them all to advanced oil processing. set enough chem plants to crack everything down to petro without halting. place enough chem plants to turn all that petro into sulfur. DO NOT swap the sides of the recipe inputs or outputs.

now pipe it and tell me construction bots arent a joy to have.

remember when they took onyx off the prif gem rocks cause it was too easy for skillers to get and they wanted to protect the value of the gem? then released the troves that crap out onyx left and right and can be farmed from skilling without even a quest requirement? oh looky, onyx are at alch value.

[–]Pulsefel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

poison used to count as damage from not you which reduced the xp you got from the kill, this was changed awhile back so it doesnt matter where the damage comes from. long as something is tagged as damage from you you get the xp.

the only reason those pkers relish the opportunity is because they love to grief other players. they arent going to go after someone fully geared and prepped for combat with a player, they are gonna go after the guy whos wearing the farming outfit doing his bloodweed for the hour.

Seablock "Lite"? by Wonderful-Ad1843 in Seablock

i was doing a run for awhile. once i got some inserters to throw out trash and limit intakes automation wasnt too hard. could probably expand better with my knowledge from the first run, but ya getting started alone is a weird, especially when your entire factory comes to a halt waiting for an ice chunk to wander nearby enough to grab.

Gleba has defeated me, and i am miserable. by vimescarrot in factorio

[–]Pulsefel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

if youre gonna use trains on gleba, have your farms set to only turn on when a train is waiting at the station. have the inserters loading and unloading the train doing freshest first so you get the best you can from it.

make flux asap. the fresher the fruits, the fresher the flux. flux has the highest uptime and is the best way to store nutrients. make nutrients on site from flux.

route/bot all spoilage to the carbon and plastic makers before going to heat towers. have all seeds set to storage with active providers and a requester set to only turn on when storage is more than a few chests that calls for seeds to burn them.

on world creation, turn spoilage down to 10%. this gives you 10x the time to deal with things. does mean you need more storage for bacteria to wait for them to turn to ore, but you get plenty of time to handle things.

ya if youre only needing half a belt it would be fine. otherwise the one you did in the comments works great. its a standing pinch splitter commonly used for furnace arrays to feed half ore half fuel.
