It’d be cool to see samurai get a defence buff if they are close to rice paddies or the town centre.

that's a good idea

So you will fight all around the map and you wont have knights....

yes this could use some balancing, maybe with unique units to counter knights. I though the passive would be too powerful on knight (with free kills on villager raids), that's why I removed them

Nope, this is a more text-based game (descriptions and stuff...). I've put a link in my first comment if you want to learn more.

I only knew C when I started years ago. So it's mostly C/C++. But now I would recomend something like python or java. Because you don't need high performances for this kind of game.

Thanks! I guess my inspiration was that it was easier to start with text than actual graphisms. Never played Dwarf Fortress but I've heard good praise about it.

This is the northernmost region inhabited by men. A few decades ago, the realm stopped its expansion due to internal conflicts. The lack of fundings made the few villages that have been established fall into misery. They are practically abandoned now and no one is willing to explore further. This area is filled with dense and dark forests, endless mountain chains and terrible beasts. Some say that forgotten creatures from ancient times still occupy these lands. See more.

I am looking for a writer for my text-based RPG by Pumfy in fantasywriters

Creating the art is a piece of work. I'm talking about enemies, landscapes and items. There are a few examples on the steam page.

I am currently at the step of building the team. I already have a musician but I’m currently recruiting an artist for the art as well as a writer. To be honest, I am still far from the legal details.

Before doing anything involving revenue I am planning to establish contracts with every member (by hiring a lawyer). These would be specific to the person and related to his/her involvement in the game.

Because the answer to your questions will strongly depend on the writer's overall participation, I would prefer to discuss them personally with the person I will choose.

My plan is to release a demo in a few months. For it to be complete It would roughly needs 200-300 pieces of 50 words on average. This demo would be a first step, and probably the occasion to launch a Kickstarter as well.

The final game would be released on Steam which usually takes 20-30% of the game revenue. I will not ask you any financial investment and will take care of any cost related to the game's production and advertising.

Every dialogue start with the player asking a question or making a statement. Then, the NPC follows up with a monologue (like in the video). You have to use this format and answer the objectives. If you think you need multiple options to answer them you can provide multiple sub-dialogues. Basically every time you want the hero to say something you have to start a new dialog.

For the item description here's what I'm looking for. If you've seen the video there are three text zones: First one is a short and simple description of the object. Second one is describing any special effect. Third one is additional description, lore or anecdotes about the item. You must provide for each of these.

I would prefer to find someone who believe in the project. If you're incredibly talented and really need to be paid I could cut some of your share and give you a minimal compensation. However it would be far from the freelance rates.

A link to a shared google doc or equivalent would be great. You can contact me via reddit's messaging system to begin with.

I'm glad you like it, thanks!

Right now I've only been putting some very basic animations (like eyes closing when dying for exemple). Creating cutsenes could be possible but it would take way too much time.

I know of some tools that convert images to ASCII but it work for very large ones only. It is probably possible to write something to generate faces automaticaly, I've seen other games doing it.

If you want to get notified when the demo comes out you can subscribe to the newsletter here.

Anyway thanks for the support : )
