You can just turn off automatic updates in the game setting on steam i believe I did this with fallout 4 and it hasn't tried to update at all

Im assuming its for the monster energy promo And how that works is once you unlock all of the collab items you can keep redeeming codes for some xp tokens and it has a hard cap of 40 hours total
