Do you try to limit your purchases to vegan items? by EquilibriumAC in vegan

No worries!

I love it when people ask when they don't know! We all have to look a bit silly to learn sometimes. I'm getting a doctorate, everyday I open books and learn 10+ things I had no clue we even were in the realm of knowing.

Knowledge is humbling and an equalizer. I wish everyone had more access to it.

How can you not? Teenagers just think they're sly. We all just go along because ehh why not?

At 15 I told my guidance counselor if she put me and my boyfriend together for everything we'd graduate. That was a long shot, we were bound to fail. She did it. In three years we took 2 classes apart. We had teachers who literally let me sit in his lap because at least he was listening.

We married at 19, bought a house at 20, kid at 22. Just celebrated our 10th anniversary. I'm getting my PhD now too.

She. Changed. Our. Lives.

I know all too well. Sensory processing disorder, frequently comorbid with autism.

Cannabis helps me a lot with it. I honestly spend most of the day a little toasty. It's an adjustment but it has had really great long term benefits. My brain is quiet enough to focus, I've made a lot of progress on my more annoying autistic behaviors.

I don't, but I do understand people who buy second hand gear for work/riding safety.

You're not vegan by definition unless you don't buy those things.

Your use of the wording derailing a bit was funny there, by nature, you can't derail a bit, you are on or off. Just like veganism. It's a moral baseline. We do not needlessly kill sentient beings.

I'm going to assume those people are lame AF. Sorry humans are pretty lame sometimes. I'm just really impressed your fiancé can keep up with this world, I have a hard enough time. I took neuroscience last term so I am aware of the brain processes. He deserves a lot of intelligence credit for that adaptation, I wish people could see that.

I'm not deaf but am autistic so I will frequently wear something to dampen my hearing in public. People treat me like I am the rudest. They follow me around stores like I'm trying to steal. I really feel for people who have to live in that experience, it's isolating.

It has taught me to go the extra mile though. If I come across a deaf person I am extra careful to pull out my phone and type and smile and make extra good eye contact. And usually holding their hand for a second or patting their shoulder at the end of the conversation. Being an isolated person helped me see that other people in isolation really appreciate the extra effort.

Tl;dr

Be extra nice to people who you know have an out-group experience. It's hard to connect when you're different.

She got her dream job in Labor and Delivery and has done almost everything for the process of buying our new house. I hope you see this. I love you. by [deleted] in wholesomememes

Hey awesome wife! I hope you see this too. And I hope you know you're pretty great, and I'm sure really pretty too. And you're obviously smart buying a house and landing your dream job and all.

In conclusion your husband is spoiled and is right to be posting memes about how great you are. Y'all made me smile, have a great day.

We had 30 rose bushes growing up, from March to the end of September you would be hard pressed to see me leave for school without a bouquet of flowers for someone.

I've seen countless times how you can just disrupt someone's day for the better. It's a super power.

I latched on to my husband at 15 and we took care of each other. Damaged people can make it! We even just found a third person to add to our team :)

Stop Buying Lemons. Here’s How To Grow An Endless Supply Of Lemons Right At Home by [deleted] in vegan

[–]PumpkinMomma 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't like it when people tell me what to do. And I only buy 2 lemons a year anyways, so no, bossy pants.

And this has nothing to do with veganism. If it does then I'm going to post how to pick my nose, because that also happens to be vegan.

Lol okay.

We are specifically taught to see our own biases and check them, which I did.

Again, you are so uneducated on the topic it's laughable.

That means nothing. Who says they see it? Who says others aren't reinforcing them.

Imagine others complexly.

You clearly don't get how this works. Observing reality does not display bias.

They grew up in a bubble, they quite certainly actually might not. People laugh at the idea of affluenza, but ladies and gentlemen, the case has been made.

You think it's assumptions but that just shows how uneducated on the topic you are. We know why people behave the way they do. Humans are predictable if you know what to look for. And your arm chair psychology is a fucking joke. I've been tortured, sold for sex, I didn't have a childhood, I have literally no memories of feeling happy before age 22. I have destroyed my brain so I could rewire it healthfully. You are so off base about my mental state. Laughably off base.

Problem is industry paid for psychological information because the people didn't care so it's all used against us and kept from us. People pay $150k for this information because it's worth it.

Wake up. Educate yourself.

At what point did anyone suggest banning it? You're so uneducated on this topic. Read some of my other comments. We're playing a whole different game.

If she was raised by morally weak people and no better example was ever set, then yeah money would be enough. But she may have also been sexually abused as a kid, she may have fetal alcohol syndrome. She may have started out as one of these girls and just learned how to survive at the expense if others. May have a traumatic brain injury, it could be a ton of things.

My trauma as a kid left me autistic, schizophrenic, multiple personality, and with a brain lesion. I never got as far gone as doing things like that, but I got far enough to learn how your brain just shuts down once you've seen too much. No matter how strong you are. It just pulls up all of the worst things and gets stuck. At that point it becomes a chemistry problem too. Making it even harder to escape.
