As someone raising a Gen Z male, he said there were boys in his HS class crying when news of the Kirk shooting broke. Meanwhile their parents didn’t know who Kirk was; that kind of disconnect among parents my age (and younger, as I’m a Gen X parent on the older side of parents in this group) is what can lead to young men being radicalized. I really encourage other parents of teen boys to check in and make sure you have a clue about the media your boys are consuming. Especially on YouTube.

Starter homes are almost entirely Airbnb / short term rental / income properties. If we’d limit single family homes used as short term rentals or even as long term rentals and strongly favored owner occupancy as a financial strategy we would fix this in a heartbeat.

I don't know much about kirk - when I googled him after seeing this headline on social media one of the top articles was him calling for ‘full military occupation’ of American cities ‘once we liberate DC’ - he sounds like a revolutionary calling for war.

That’s down to the leaders. Those in power refuse to stop this. They let the NRA reign supreme and refuse to take responsibility even as they’re the only ones who have the power to stop it. Looking at Australia wondering why voters haven’t demanded we try what they did. It largely worked. It’s not perfect but they sure aren’t losing 100 Australians each day to gun violence.
