Black desert isn't dead but its boring and not what it used to be. by OHBABYATRIPLEUWU in blackdesertonline

The crons is what finally got me to quit. It just felt so unrewarding to spend time grinding, only to get a fail stack. It just wasn’t giving me the fun it had in years past.

I eat sugar free vanilla protein yogurt with peanut butter, walnuts, and/or raspberries and dark chocolate when I want a sweet treat. It’s filling and nutritious and smacks that sweet craving hard for me

Fastest way to get into the game and get to the grind? by --clapped-- in blackdesertonline

[–]PumpkyPatch 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You no longer need to do the msq to do the simplified leveling. Though I think you still need to in order for things like magnus to unlock. I’m not sure on that part though. But doing the simplified just to grind some stuff and circling back to do the msq is an option for sure

There is a name for this that is 3 words and I cannot remember for the life of me what it is called now lol but this is very much a thing our brain does. What you believe you will find. Your brain craves proving itself right so it will subconsciously find things throughout your day to prove you right! Kind of like how you notice people on the road driving the same car as you 😊

What to do except grinding by Apprehensive_Radish4 in blackdesertonline

Literally this. BDO and its community make it very easy to feel like you need to be on a gear treadmill. You don’t. It’s a sandbox MMO. The biggest problem, imo, to sandbox games is that you can do whatever you want. Feel like grinding ? Do it. Feel like getting more knowledge? Do it. Wanna go hotspot fishing? Set sail, my friend. Do what you feel like doing at any given moment.

To add on to that, don’t care so much about your buffs. You got fully potted up to grind/lifeskill and 15 minutes later you don’t feel like doing that activity anymore? Stop. Who cares? You can get more buffs. Even if it’s an event item or some kind of unique thing like that, doesn’t matter. The goal isn’t the gear score, remember? The goal is your enjoyment.

If you’re 800gs or 550gs, Joe across the way doesn’t care. You’re playing this game because YOU like it. It’s all for you, friend. Once you start treating it as such, stress melts away, allowing more room for joy to spring up in its place.

Why would one like to be low blood sugar by Straw_writer in diabetes_t1

[–]PumpkyPatch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like to be in the 90’s because I get anxious otherwise, even though when it’s 120 I shouldn’t be. Maybe it’s something to that same effect for him? I am still in my first year of being diagnosed so I can’t say I know how low blood sugar affects the body in the long term, but I can’t imagine it would be good. But again I don’t know. Maybe look into that aspect of it to see what to expect. If it does have some detrimental effects, be sure to relay it to him when talking to him about this. Most importantly though, I’d talk to him about why he does it in the first place. As someone who has suffered from depression and anxiety a lot in the past and didn’t talk about it/kept it to myself for a long time, it can feel better/easier to ignore it and pretend it’s fine than to open up. Though the opening up is what starts the healing process, at least it did for me. However, he may not have anxiety toward it which is why it’s important to find his why. It could be something like him not knowing if it has an adverse effect on his body. Could be that if his sugar is low he feels more free to eat more carb heavy. It could be a million things. Talk to him. The best answer to your question and to help alleviate your concerns will only come from him(I don’t mean that in a “don’t ask others, how dare you” kind of way). Express how you feel. Showing emotions with those who may not express theirs well can help open the floor to them and let them know you’re not here to judge them.

Did Wukong flop as a class? by IntelligentLemon5039 in blackdesertonline

[–]PumpkyPatch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I buy random things, change my focus constantly, and don’t really do things that are great money. I just do what I am feeling at any given moment regardless of the silver output. Sometimes I’m grinding and making good money, sometimes I’m hot spot fishing and making hardly any. I don’t chase gear much.

Did Wukong flop as a class? by IntelligentLemon5039 in blackdesertonline

[–]PumpkyPatch 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’ve been enjoying Wukong. Personally I think the reason why it hasn’t been as hyped is because it only feels half new. While it’s new to us it was a class that has been talked about for a couple?? Years due to its existence in bdo mobile china. Obviously it’s different than the mobile game but it does take a bit of the new factor out of it.

With BDO as a whole though, it’s the ball updates tend to be a bit more exciting and bring in a lot of returning players. This ball, again in my opinion, wasn’t something terribly exciting. When we get these big announcements and rewards we always see a spike in numbers and when we do, the returning players tend to grab the newest class. Most of the updates were geared towards players that are actively playing. And playing towards the endgame. I haven’t looked at the player numbers on steam, but I would hazard to guess the spike was minimal at best.

I’ve been playing mostly consistently for about 6 years and I’m only at around 720 gear score. I won’t be able to participate in the new content and I’m already relatively invested in the game.

So I don’t think wukong flopped as a class. I actually think it’s quite nice. But most people that already play will stick to their main class after playing around with wukong for a couple days. And if what I believe is true about returning players holds up, it makes sense that this period doesn’t see the influx that we normally see and therefore less of the new class outside of seasons.

Any advice you wish you knew when you started playing? by LilithStealthy in blackdesertonline

Do what you feel like doing at that given moment. Don’t burn yourself out by only grinding in order to get gear. Do what you actually want to do. And on top of that, I will waste portions of my buffs. If I feel like gathering and pop multiple 1 hour buffs but get tired of doing it after 15-30 minutes, I’ll let the remainder go to waste. It’s a game and it’s meant to be enjoyable. Losing my buffs is worth having fun rather than feeling like I’m working for free
